Sandbox / Twofer Token Wick Check

Go To

Unlike the more straightforward Token Minority, Twofer Token Minority seems to attract examples that just list a character being a member of multiple minority groups, regardless of whether they're important to the story. The trope description seems to suggest this is when the character is both the only member of X group and the only member of Y group (plus any other applicable token groups), but many examples just say "Bob is X and Y" even though other examples feature characters who are X and/or characters who are Y.

    open/close all folders

Character is only member of X and only member of Y
  1. ComicBook.Secret Weapons (Fantasy minority + Sikh; context of the example suggests he's the only Sikh among the psiots and that this adds additional context to his story)
  2. Series.Star Trek The Original Series (Nyota Uhura's entry describes her as such for being a black woman; she's the most prominent female character and black character, and the entry does explain how her being a black woman was Fair for Its Day)
  3. Characters.Malcolm In The Middle (appears to be most prominent black character and only disabled character, and lampshades this in-universe)
  4. MultinationalTeam.Comic Books (discusses how some comic book characters belong to different minority groups at once; context of the entry suggests they are the only members of said groups)
  5. Characters.Bait And Switch STO (Australian Aborigine + Token Human)

  1. Film.Even Dwarfs Started Small (Cast full of dwarfs, but at least one of them is blind - there's grammar issues that make it confusing whether it's one dwarf or several, but the writeup suggests the context of "not a token for X but is a token for Y")
  2. Series.Scorpion (Asian-American woman but not the only female character; the entry also directs to an Ambiguously Brown entry for a character whose race isn't clear enough to decide where it goes here)
  3. Characters.Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 Multiplayer (Black woman but not the only female character in her faction)

Character is X and Y, with no additional context

    Uncertain of context / Unsorted

  4. JustForFun.People Sit On Chairs (Potholed to a character name, entry itself only says that he's disabled)
  5. Characters.Shadow And Bone (Biracial woman who faces racism, but the entry doesn't clarify if she's the only biracial character, the only female character, both or neither)
