Sandbox / Five Nights at Freddy's Cleanup

Go To

Refer to the main cleanup thread for discussion purposes and more in-depth information about identified issues.

A sandbox for cleaning up Five Nights at Freddy's pages, specifically the first six games. This is where we post any questionable tropes and examples, and why we think they need to be changed or removed. Anyone is allowed to edit this.

The pages for the first six games are inconsistent with each other in terms of in-game information. Most have entries that've either been disproven within themselves - both from late-game or hidden information - or other games. They are also riddled with fandom-based assumptions that have no basis within the given information, often conflicting with what was actually given in-game.

Issues that have been identified for multiple games include:

  • The identity of the nightguard: While not confirmed, the night guards in these games are likely Michael Afton using various pseudonyms.
  • William's kill count and haunted animatronics:
    • Five children were killed at once and possessed the animatronics from the first game
    • FNAF 2 minigames and calls suggest additional kills before and during the events of that game
    • FNAF 3 secret minigames show the Toy animatronics interacting with souls from the initial incident, but aren't confirmed to be haunted themselves
    • The Puppet and Funtime animatronics are confirmed to be haunted
  • Player character of FNAF 4: Implied to be Michael Afton through game guidebooks
  • Speculation on the Models: Various pages for animatronics note that they have similar designs to each other and may be connected, which is unnecessary commentary because Scott reuses models for no given reason.
  • Speculation treated as being fact.
  • Improper usage of spoilers, whether it's putting them in places where they're not necessary / needed to understand an example or not putting spoilers in places where it's necessary.
  • Shoehorning - a.k.a. warping a trope's definition to force it to fit.
  • Invalid examples due to improper understanding of game mechanics.

NOTES:

  • All the tropes here should be listed in the correct alphabetic order.
  • UNMARKED SPOILERS. This sandbox assumes that anyone who reads and edits it is familiar with the events of the first six Five Nights at Freddy's games.
  • This sandbox also assumes that editors know what' s canon and what's Fanon or Word of Dante.
  • The corrections apply to the examples as they are currently written.
  • After correcting anything on the work pages, please remove the complaint that's listed here, so we can keep better track of our progress.

  • Doomed Contrarian: Completely spoilered out.
  • Only Sane Man: Completely spoilered out.
  • Properly Paranoid: Completely spoilered out.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Rewrite, needs a proper explination as to what makes Ballora 'powerful', as it only notes that she has purple accents.
  • Team Mom: Cut spoilered section, as it is a reference to fandom exclusively. According to Circus Baby and the game teasers- specifically the one preceeding the 'closed because of leaks' teaser- Ballora is only ever hinted at being a fellow child.

Funtime Freddy
  • Purple Is Powerful: Rewrite, needs a proper explination as to what makes Funtime Freddy 'powerful', as it only notes that he has purple accents.

Funtime Foxy
Ennard

    Pizzeria Simulator
Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator
  • Cerebus Retcon: The entry on this trope's page dealing with this game needs to be re-evaluated.
