    Correct/With context
  1. Work Time Fun: In "4 Fingers", you stab between your fingers with an ice pick, earning 1 point per poke.
  2. Manga/Parasyte: When Shinichi first tries to confirm whether his right hand has been taken over by an alien, he places his palm on the table and prepares to stab a knife between his fingers, reasoning that it will dodge of its own volition if it isn't his.

    Just wicked/mentioned
  1. This is the Inciting Incident for the investigation in The Night Of. The first episode shows, well, the night of: Nasir gets lost in Manhattan and meets a beautiful woman who gives him drugs and booze and persuades him to play Five-Finger Fillet with her (badly) before they have sex. He wakes up hours later in the kitchen, goes upstairs, and finds her brutally murdered. Freaking out at finding himself in a crime scene so damning only a TV writer could come up with it, he grabs the bloody knife they played with the night before and flees the scene. He's convinced he didn't do it but has no other explanation for what could have happened while he was blacked out.
  2. Film. The Worlds End, Shout-Out: Gary mentions the "knife game" from Aliens, a scene in which it is revealed that Bishop is a robot.
  3. Pantheon.Traitor Archetypes, Lance Bishop: For a pacifist, he's surprisingly skilled at the Five-Finger Fillet. Of course he'd have to be so as to not harm humans. Because of how he's programmed it's unclear how much of his courage is his directive and how much is fully his own. Either way, he wants to be treated as human as the rest of the crew. Given his kind personality, the pantheon is happy to oblige.
  4. Literature.Aliens Bug Hunt, Mythology Gag: In Broken, one of the first things Bishop realizes upon being activated is what his nature is, with several terms for it available. "Android, Synthetic, Artificial Person, Robot." He decides he likes "Artificial Person" best. At the end, Hudson teaches Bishop Five-Finger Fillet.
  5. Impaled Palm: Maybe be caused by Five-Finger Fillet.
  6. Sword Tropes: Index
  7. Fall Out Boy: The titles of both "Stay Frosty Royal Milk Tea" and "Bishops Knife Trick" are references to Aliens. "Stay Frosty" was coined in the movie as a futuristic version of "keep cool," and the character Bishop's Establishing Character Moment involves his cohorts asking him to show off his "knife trick."
  8. Aliens: Colonial Marines, Fandom Nod: As noted on an XBox Magazine pre-release feature about the game, Bishop's first line was supposed to be the ad-libbed "Don't ask me to do the knife trick. I can see it in your eyes." This references actor Lance Henriksen's constant requests to do said trick by many of the fans he met over the years. However, the line itself does not appear in the final game.
  9. Psycho Knife Nut: Many knife nuts do the Five-Finger Fillet to showcase their dexterity and general disregard for safety.
  10. Dexterity Game: Index
  11. Weapons and Wielding Tropes: Index
  12. The Simpsons S 32 E 8 The Road To Cincinnati: All Bikers are Hells Angels: Parodied. Skinner and Chalmers enter a biker bar, but instead of bikers, the bar is full of cyclists, who nevertheless act like Badass Bikers. One cyclist crushes an oxygen can with his forehead, and two others play Five-Finger Fillet with a wrench.
  13. The Simpsons S 32 E 7 Three Dreams Denied: Funny Background Event: While Homer and Marge talk about Lisa, Maggie can be seen playing Five-Finger Fillet with her pacifier, even pretending to have cut off her finger.
  14. Hand Tropes: Index

    ZCE
  1. Anime.Popee The Performer: Played for laughs. And using a frog.
  2. Series.Eerie Indiana: In "Heart on a Chain", Devon does this in the classroom. When Marshall tells him to slow down, Devon replies, "Live fast, die young, leave a good looking corpse." After Devon's heart is transplanted into her body, Melanie does the five finger fillet herself in the World O' Stuff and uses the same phrase.
  3. Fingore.Live Action Films: In The Hangover Part II, Teddy loses a finger by attempting the Five-Finger Fillet.
  4. Series.Boardwalk Empire: Jimmy expertly plays the game with his old trenchknife in "Family Limitation," establishing him as a Psycho Knife Nut who's still not over the war. Capone's unfamiliarity with the game tips Jimmy off that he wasn't really in the war.
  5. Roleplay. We Are Our Adventuring Avatars: One of Kris' many skills with a knife. Commented out on page itself
  6. Fanfic. The Legend Of Total Drama Island: Whilst the contestants who have completed the 20K run are waiting for the stragglers to finish, Duncan teaches teammates D.J. and Ezekiel how to play this knife game. The three boys then play for a time.

  10. Mortal Kombat – Mileena: One of her moves in MK11 is to pin her opponent down and perform this on her opponent's face, and with a multi-bladed sai to boot. She gets nine stabs in two seconds, and she pauses a bit to check that her fingers are unscathed before jamming in a tenth for good measure.
  11. Red Dwarf Season I "The End": In a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, Petersen can be seen doing this (badly) with a pen. Also on RedDwarf.Tropes A To I
  12. Wayne, Impaled Palm: When challenged to a game of Five-Finger Fillet by a golf course groundskeeper's vegan Satanist girlfriend, Wayne intentionally stabs himself through the hand in an interesting interpretation of doing what she did "faster and better."
  13. Gnoph: Abbey injures her fingers doing this and laments that she used to be able to do it perfectly.
  14. Xena S 03 E 15 King Con: Xena does this to Eldon, performing the deed at inhuman speed.
  15. Webcomic/Marilith: When Dim and Vics are introduced, Vics stabs himself while doing this.
  16. Film/Populaire: Louis wants his friend Marie to train Rose in piano for greater dexterity, and until she says yes, he performs this trick faster and faster (much to her chagrin). Cut to Rose bandaging his hand in the next scene. But at least Marie said yes.
  17. Live a Hero (MHA), The Gadfly: Izuku can be this when he's feeling more cheerful, playing Five-Finger Fillet as his friends (sans Kirishima, who's used to it and nudged him into doing it) looked on and screamed (or in Kouda's case, signed) in horror.
  18. My Bloody Valentine: Played by Axel and Hollis.
  19. Series/Barry: Subverted in episode 2-1. When Esther of the Burmese crime gang busts out the knife and puts her hand on the table palm down, Hank rolls his eyes, anticipating the Five-Finger Fillet cliche. Esther then proceeds to instead stab her own hand. In reaction, Hank yelps, "Oh sweet baby Jesus!" does not describe what the Five-Finger Fillet is. If it did it would be a perfectly fine example
  20. Literature/Deathmoor: You need to challenge Fang-Zen to this game — and win — in order to obtain King Jothane's letter.
  21. Adventure Time S 5 E 11 Bad Little Boy: At the party, Male!Tree Trunks is seen doing this wimpily with a spoon. Also has a Characterization Tag
  22. Inside No 9 S 3 E 2 The Bill: The game used to settle the bill when things really escalate out of control. Namedropped along with a number of other names the game goes by.
  23. Knife in the Water: The young man plays this game with his switchblade. Andrzej is jealous and tries to do it himself, but can't manage very well.

  31. I Zombie S 1 E 8 Dead Air: Ravi does this to demonstrate the oyster shucking gloves to Liv, as they protect his finger when he inevitably stabs himself.
