Anime and Manga
  • Zatch Bell!: Folgore's first appearance. Kiyomaro is still analyzing him while he dances, and Gash couldn't help but join the dance. New AQC. Unclear ADD because relation between Kiyomaro and Gash isn't described.

Film

  • Occurs in The Rocky Horror Picture Show when Rocky, as well as all the nameless Transylvanians and Columbia, start dancing along to Eddie singing Hot Patootie much to Frank's dismay/jealousy. Instead of stopping in embarrassment, Rocky gets thrown into the elevator by Frank and watches in horror as he kills Eddie with a pick axe. Unclear ADD if I understand it right Frank gets jealous because Rocky also likes a song sung by somebody else? What is the relation between Frank and Rocky?
  • The finale of the movie remake of Hairspray does this with Velma and Amber.ZCE
  • In Enchanted, Robert catches himself bobbing along with Giselle's Crowd Song before realizing what he's doing.New AQC, Invalid ADD: No Junior/Senior relation between Giselle and Robert.
  • The Mask, with all the cops joining in. Invoked, too, when the lieutenant in charge tells his subordinate: "You start dancing, I'll blow your brains out." Already on AQC, Valid ADD
  • In Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Brick begins joining in with a rival news team in laughing at his friends. Not AQC, Unclear ADD, what is the relation between Brick and the rest of the people?
  • Iago in Aladdin during "Prince Ali." Already on AQC, Valid ADD
  • In How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, the Grinch is displeased to find his faithful dog Max dancing along with the citizens of Whoville's song.Possible AQC, Valid ADD
  • Despite the fact Captain Smollett (Kermit) is actually Mr Arrow (Sam the Eagle)'s superior in Muppet Treasure Island, the bit where Smollett joins in with "Sailing to Adventure" and then immediately stops when Arrow glares at him definitely feels like this trope. (It's previously been established that Arrow wants Smollet to be a stern and ruthless captain, and hates any evidence that he isn't.) Not AQC. Invalid ADD, as mentioned Kermit is the captain and he's participating in a crowd song. Sam is simlply his usual Comically Serious self.

Western Animation

  • The Spongebob Squarepants Movie involves this and a mosh pit.ZCE
  • In The Simpsons episode "Lisa the Vegetarian", Homer responds to Lisa's new vegetarianism with "You don't win friends with salad!", which Bart turns into a conga line. They leave the frame and when they return, Marge has joined in; Lisa admonishes her, and Marge responds "Sorry, it was catchy".Already on AQC. Unclear ADD, Marge is Lisa's mother so the "Junior/Senior" dynamic is normally the other way around.
    • Something similar happens in "Two Dozen and One Greyhounds". Mr. Burns sings a song (to the tune of "Be My Guest") where he details how he plans on skinning the greyhounds he adopted from the Simpsons to make a tuxedo. Lisa is horrified, but Bart is humming along, and again, when Lisa calls him on it, he says "You've gotta admit, it was catchy." Already on AQC. Unclear ADD, Lisa and Bart are siblings, so no real "Junior/Senior " dynamic.
    • Inverted somewhat in Kiss Kiss Bang Bangalore. When the Indian employees and some other characters break out into a Bollywood song and dance, Smithers looks on eagerly until Burns allows him to join in. Not AQC. Unclear ADD, but looks more like Throw the Dog a Bone.
  • Max in Cats Don't Dance. ZCE
  • Occurs in The Great Mouse Detective during the mouse burlesque show, with Basil looking over to see Dawson (who's acting loopy after drinking a drugged beer) dancing with the showgirls. Not AQC. Invalid ADD, this is the result of Intoxication Ensues.

Proposal - rename to Distracted By The Fun

  • Wizards (2020): In "Wizards Underground", when Skrael creates an ice patch that Steve slips on, he spends some time playing around with making Steve fall in ridiculous ways. Bellroc is not amused that it distracts from his Hannibal Lecture.
    Bellroc: Foolish servant. You think you can stop us? We planned for a millenium ... gathering ... waiting ...
    [Krael cackles gleefully while tossing Steve around.]
    Bellroc: Do. You. Mind?
    Krael: Sorry, it's just so fun.
    Bellroc: ... to undo you. To undo all of you!

  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars: In "Supply Lines", during a dinner with the king of Toydaria, Jar Jar Binks tries to distract Senator Lot Dodd and his retinue for long enough to allow a Republic convoy of relief ships to take off undetected. He does so by staging an impromptu juggling session with the tablewares. When he finishes, the Toydarians at the table aplaud him, but Lot Dodd looks at him in disgust. Dodd's aide however starts to clap along until he catches Dodd's look of disapproval.

The Simple Solution Is Lame (from Examples Searching for a Trope)

Girl Genius: Just read the latest Girl Genius; hairbrained schemes being deflated by a practical solution (and the reaction to said solution) has to be a trope, but danged if I can find it.

Possible related to Where's the Fun in That? => rework stock phrase?

  • The Dragon Prince: Claudia when she tries to find a spell to break the chains in episode 3 - "Well, fun as it would be to turn the chains into snakes, I guess I'll just use the key."
  • Girl Genius: When a group of Sparks is thinking up all kinds of zany schemes to get at the bottom of a hole going through multiple floors, no-nonsense engineer Moloch Von Zinzer points out there's a perfectly Mundane Solution to descend, to the annoyance of the Sparks
    Moloch: Why don't we just move this winch? There should be enough cable, and it looks strong enough that we could lower everybody on a platform.
    [turns around and notices he's become the subject of several disapproving glares]
    Moloch: ...and then, at the bottom, it could unfold into a ... a giant caterpillar or ... something...
    Dr. Mittelmind: No, no. You've already taken all the joy out of it.
  • Star Wars: Clone Wars: during one of their missions, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker just infiltrated a Separatist base and are ketting ready to knock out the shield generator. Anakin is getting ready to storm the room to take out the battle droits guarding it. Obi-Wan holds him back and simply picks out some granades and uses the force to roll them to strategic places where they explode.
    Anakin: Well, that's no fun.
  • Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans: When Charlemagne is flying with Claire and Blinkie on his back, and intentionally make crazy loops to get Blinkie to yell out in fear, Claire tells him they could also have portaled to their destination.
    Claire: Didn't your son tell you I could use my magic to shorten the trip?
    Charlemagne: Where would be the fun in that?
  • Adventure Time: Distant Lands: I In "Wizard City", Cedabra barely passes her acceptance test after she performs stage magic insted of real magic to light a candle. Her uncle Abracadaniel asks her why she didn't use real magic.
    Cadebra: [while effortlessly conjuring a flame] Where's the fun in that?

Uryuoms on the main story-line Earth come from the "other face of the coin" world
1) The Emissary of Magic told Grace that Uryuoms don't come from outer space;
2) Uryuoms have been on Earth for thousands of years;
3) Earth Uryuoms aren't all descended from those original arrivals because the parents of William come from their parent planet, where they made the TF gun;
4) An Uryuom spaceship (allegedly with an entire colony on board) is said to have crash-landed on the "other face of the coin" world thousands of years ago;
5) William's parents made the TF gun "before cetrain laws were passed" on the parent planet;
6) In the encounter with Lord Liam, he confirms that Uryuoms on the "other face of the coin" world are banned from using technology, but he does not state how long that ban has been in effect. If those laws are decades old, instead of centuries, then that is recent enough to allow for William's parents to make the TF gun, see anti-Uryuom sentiments become worse on their home-planet and decide to cross over to "our" Earth where William was born.
