Go To

Final part of the Oma Island Trilogy

As Yugo's companions regroup and decide what to do next, a battle between titans is about to take place on Oma Island: the mad Xelor Nox and the Black Dragon Grougaloragran are going to settle things once and for all, in a fight for the Eliacube and its marvelous powers...

Tropes:

  • Anti-Magic: During the battle against Nox, Grougal uses a magic-nullifying breath to make sure Nox is unable to dodge the uncoming blast of dragon fire.
  • Anti-Villain: Ultimately confirmed to be the case with Nox, as a look from Grougal's Aura Vision reveals a pitch-black, hollow-looking aura with a tiny, shiny spark of Wakfu-colored light where his heart should be located. The dragon even tells Nox it's not too late to stop.
  • Barrier Warrior: During the course of the battle, Nox uses gears-shaped barriers to protect himself from Grougal.
  • Better to Die than Be Killed: Grougaloragran ultimately self-destructs in a last-ditch attempt to kill Nox, severely damaging his machine and depriving him of his huge amount of Wakfu.
  • Bishōnen Line: Grougal fights a lot better in his human form than as a huge, clumsier dragon.
  • Blood Knight: Downplayed, though after emerging unscathed from an attack which destroyed his cape and clothing, Grougal cannot help but smirk, which annoys Nox.
  • Born from Plants: When Dally hears that Yugo was born from a Dofus, he doesn't see anything suspicious with it, as he believes he was born under a cabbage, after all.
  • Clothing Damage: Grougal's mantle gets destroyed during the attack of Nox and his minions.
  • Grievous Harm with a Body: During the fight against Nox's zombies, Grougal ends up grabbing the Feca by the ankle and use him as a bludgeon to smash away the other two revenants.
  • Lack of Empathy: Discussed when Nox reveals the full extent of his plans to Grougal: when the latter points out that his time-reversing plans are impossible and that he'll destroy the world, Nox tells him that he doesn't care, as he cannot live in a world without his family.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: After Nox sees for himself Grougal's actual powers, he powers himself up with the Eliacube, gaining a massive, tumor-like energy sac on his back, armor and two giant warhammers made of solid Wakfu.
  • Malicious Misnaming: When seemingly having the upper hand, Nox mockingly calls Grougal "Rigoloragran" (with "Rigole" being the French for "fun, laughter").
  • Mood Whiplash: The entire episode is split between the deadly serious, epic duel between Grougaloragran and Nox and the much more lighthearted moments with the heroes in the snowlands.
  • Nemean Skinning: When Sadlygrove goes hunting for furs, we see several wolf-like animals running at him, lured by Az. A sword swing and a cut to black later, the now furless animals are running away from him, while a pile of fur lands on Dally's hand a few seconds later.
  • Night of the Living Mooks: To even the odds against Grougal, Nox makes use of a Xelor technique and summons forth his three zombified minions: Frisco, Marama and Tartufo, a trio composed of a Sacrier attacker, a Feca defender and a Cra archer.
  • No Man Should Have This Power: Grougal tells Nox that no mere human can control the Eliacube and that he'll ultimately destroy himself with it. Nox comments he's actually been able to handle it pretty well for the last 200 years but later agrees with Grougal that the Eliacube is much too powerful for a normal person, but he still needs it if he's going to pull off his final plan.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: In the B subplot, Ruel becomes unusually angry at the cute little Dhreller pup who took a liking to him. This is noted as odd by the rest of the heroes, as there's no money involved and Dhrellers are usually familiars to the Enutrof.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: The battle between Grougal and Nox ends up changing the layout of Oma Island forever.
  • Pillar of Light: Grougaloragran's sacrifice causes a huge pillar of bright light to shoot up in the sky, visible from many lands away, as a lengthy montage then attest.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: In the end, Nox wins, but Grougal blows himself up, severely damaging his clock and depriving him of his Wakfu reserve, meaning that Nox wasted part of the Eliacube reserve for nothing. Plus, it also buys the heroes some time to go and warn Nox's next target, the Sadida Kingdom.
  • Spirit Advisor: In the end of the episode, Grougal's ethereal form, hidden inside Az' feather, delivers one last message to the heroes, urging them to retrieve his Dofus and warn the Sadida Kingdom so that they can protect the Tree of Life.
  • Super Mode: In order to overpower Grougal, Nox is forced to go all out by tapping in part of the Eliacube's reserve.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Nox's understated reaction when he realizes that his magic powers are inhibited and that Grougal is about to breath fire on him at point blank, with enough strength to alter Oma Island's geography and make the volcanoes erupt.
Nox: Eh eh eh, this is going to hurt a little... [braces for impact]
