"This is worse than being bait!"

"We saved each other."
Keith to Shiro

As the group waits for Shiro to wake up again in their spare healing pod, Keith, Krolia and Allura wait beside him while the others look for Yalmors that could help them find a source to recharge the lions faster. Inside Shiro's slumber, he recounts how he met Keith back at the Garrison, the times they shared, and the fallout he had with his ex Adam when he chose to go on the Kerberos mission.

When Coran and the others finally find a Yalmor, a series of accidents results in the group being shrunken down, forcing them to figure out how to get back to normal size.

Allura tells Keith that Shiro's spirit is being rejected by the clone body and there is very little she can do now, causing Keith to plead to Shiro to not leave him. The group hatches a plan to use Hunk as bait and finally get back to their normal size. As Keith begs for Shiro to not give up, the healing pod shows Shiro being back to full health and he wakes up to Keith who says that they saved each other.

As the other group returns and Lance briefly recounts their adventures, Shiro laughs and says "it's good to be back".

Tropes:

  • Anger Born of Worry: Adam and Shiro's interaction in the flashback. Adam, like everyone else, doesn't want Shiro to go on the Kerberos mission because he knows that his illness is getting worse.
  • Bait-and-Switch Comment: Pidge admitting that the Yalmor were cute, but in a "hideous disgusting way" like Lance. He does not appreciate that comment.
  • The Bait: Coran and the others use Hunk as bait to attract a Yalmor.
  • Berserk Button: One of the students James does this to Keith by mentioning Keith's parents, leading the other to punch him in the face that leads to them sitting outside an office.
Keith: I can outfly anyone in this building.
James: Oh yeah? Is that what mommy and daddy said before they- (Keith punches him)
  • Brick Joke: The Yalmors link together by the ears, something Coran described the paladins of old back in the first episodes of the series.
  • Call-Back:
    • The area where Keith and Shiro are racing is the path Keith uses in the first episode to evade the Garrison. He even manages to pull up like Shiro does at the last moment.
    • Yalmors appear in this episode, a creature Coran talked about a lot during "Some Assembly Required".
  • Easily-Overheard Conversation: Keith is by the Garrison staff's room, initially there to meet up with Shiro to talk, but easily overhears them yelling about how Shiro can't go on the mission due to his health.
  • Gilligan Cut: While the teacher talks about Keith having discipline issues, and therefore not suitable for the Garrison, she introduces a different student who had the highest score and grades in the class. Cut to Keith's video game having the failed screen and he's nowhere to be seen. When Shiro looks back, his car is revving up and speeds away.
  • Incredible Shrinking Man: An odd octopus-like creature shrinks Coran and the others, and they have to survive as tiny people in the wilderness until they find a way to reverse the effects.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Romelle takes a moment to piece together what happened in the last few episodes of season 6, and wonders aloud how everyone was so casual about all of the plot bombs that were dropped and asks In-Universe how they are "simply moving on"? Hunk responds with, "That's what I've been saying, but these guys like to move on."
  • Let Me Get This Straight...: Using this, Romelle handily sums up the plot twists of the last episodes of season 6.
  • Mood Whiplash: As Keith and his group are waiting for Shiro to wake up, with his life hanging in the balance, Coran and the others are having a tiny adventure with the Yalmors.
  • Odd Friendship: Between Romelle and Hunk, with Hunk commenting how Romelle seems to be pointing out things he's always thinking about or saying on the groups less than pleasant adventures.
  • Oh, Crap!: Hunk's face when James starts to push Keith's buttons, saying that he was only here because Shiro was backing him up.
  • 1-Dimensional Thinking: This exchange while running away from a giant falling leaf.
Lance: We're not running fast enough!
    Pidge: Run at an angle!
  • Queer Establishing Moment: Shiro has a flashback to Adam asking him, "Takashi, how important am I to you?" confirming that Adam and Shiro were a couple.
  • Silly Animal Sound: Coran doing this to attract a Yalmor.
  • Simulation Game: The Garrison use a video game for the cadets flight test.
  • Talk to the Fist: When James starts to bring up Keith's parents, the latter punches him in the face.
  • Ugly Cute: In-Universe, Pidge describes the Yalmors as kind of cute, but in a hideously disgusting way.
  • Whole Episode Flashback: The viewers get a look inside Shiro's memories back at the Garrison and how he and Keith met. We also get more flashbacks of Keith and the others at the Garrison.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: In order to get back to their normal size, Coran says they needed to lure a Yalmor to them. Romelle grumpily points out that the reason they were hiding from the Yalmor was due to their miniature bodies.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: Shiro was suffering from a chronic illness to his muscles, and only had a few years of maintaining his "peak condition" before it progressively got worse.
