After getting out of the wild, Prisoner 849 finds themselves in a mine where dangers abound, and not only in the form of deadly creatures, but also dangerous level hazards.

This level shows examples of:

  • Convection, Schmonvection: As long as you don't come into direct contact with the magma, you're perfectly fine.
  • Deadly Rotary Fan: A fan near the end of the level can suck the player and reduce them to bits, provided they aren't careful.
  • Easter Egg:
    • Using "Fly" and getting to the top of the beginning area, right above the entrance to the forcefield controls, the translator reads "What the hell are you doing up here?".
    • Taking a swim in the lava pit below the passage where you get a Stinger via Nali reads "You are SO dead!".
  • Exploding Barrels: Several instances across the level.
  • Kill the Lights: During the Skaarj Scout attack scene, the lights are turned off, one by one.
  • Lethal Lava Land: The first instance in the game with a lava river. The bridges being made of wood and not being very stable contribute to the danger level of the area.
  • No OSHA Compliance: Exploding Barrels, earthquakes across the level, unstable bridges made with weak materials above lava rivers, hazards everywhere you look...
  • Nothing Is Scarier: When you press the two buttons to bring down the force field, suddenly the music stops, and some bars pop out, blocking the exit. And then the lights turn off, one by one, and the player is left in the darkness. A menacing growl is heard. The lights suddenly flick back to life, blood red, and a Skaarj Scout rushes at you.
  • Video Game Caring Potential:
    • Saving a Nali from a Skaarj attack after taking the second elevator grants the player access to a secret chamber where they can find the Stinger for the first time.
    • Saving another Nali from a guarding Brute grants the player access to their first Dispersion Pistol powerup.
