Tropes
- Big Bad Duumvirate: Megatron and Galvatron, but then there's a surprise cameo by Unicron, the entity who has (inadvertently) contributed to the alliance by having created Galvatron.
- Bottle Episode: This episode hardly has any fighting or action at all, with mostly just conservations and philosophical talking.
- Dark Is Evil: The glimpse we get of Nemesis Prime is a dark grey Red Eyes, Take Warning Evil Counterpart to Optimus Prime.
- The Exile:
- Skylinx was banished to the Dead Universe as punishment by Alpha Trion for his arrogance and trying to take the Matrix of Leadership by force.
- Megatron also banishes Starscream from the Decepticon forces for his treachery back in the 4th episode trying to blow up the Space Bridge with Megatron in it.
- Mythology Gag: Aside from the appearances of Alpha Trion, Skylinx, Galvatron, Nemesis Prime and Unicron, there's also the Golden Disc from Beast Wars that Galvatron (unsuccessfully) tried to give to Megatron. Even so, the Hate Plague is referenced from the G1 two-parter "The Return of Optimus Prime" when Galvatron instructs Megatron to direct it at Optimus.
- Power Of Hate: Galvatron instructs Megatron to use this in the materialization of a laser ray against Optimus Prime.
- Refuse to Rescue the Disliked: Or the Banished. Skylinx asked Optimus to help him leave the Dead Universe, but Optimus sternly reminds Skylinx that Alpha Trion banished him there as punishment and has not earned his freedom back. Skylinx understands this.
- The Reveal: Galvatron doesn't really say anything about himself to Megatron or the viewer other than he wants Megatron to take the Matrix of Leadership from Optimus. Later on, it turns out that he was Made a Slave of Unicron's and a future self of Megatron and wanted his past self to use the Matrix to kill off his master. It doesn't work and Unicron summons Galvatron back to his time period to face punishment for treachery.
- Taking the Bullet: Skylinx takes the heat laser ray aimed by Megatron and Galvatron at Optimus.
- You Are Too Late: Galvatron emits a Big "NO!" as the Autobots have escaped the Dead Universe thanks to Skylinx's Heroic Sacrifice as he gets pulled out of the universe himself by his master Unicron.
