When Lucy and the Morticians Club bring in a wheel of cursed cheese, Lincoln and Clyde bake it into Clyde's famous cake recipe, but it ends up cursing the family to sleep, forcing Lincoln and Clyde to enter their dreams to save them.

- Call-Back: Luna's toothpaste jingle is based on "You Put the Cap Back On", the song she wrote in "The Guy Who makes You Fly".
- Dramatic Thunder: The first time it happens, Lucy claims it was a coincidence. The second time? Completely intentional.
- Foreshadowing: The nightmares are all foreshadowed in the opening scene.

- How We Got Here: The story begins with the Louds (sans Lily and Lynn Sr.) watching something rampaging outside the house and panicking over it, before Lincoln pauses the action and rewinds to earlier that day.
- No Longer with Us: Lucy begins the Morticians' meeting by acknowledging the absence of Bertrand, Morpheus, and Persephone, who are "sadly not with us"... before clarifying that they're off doing other things.
- Russian Reversal: Lisa has been experimenting with a rat named Mr. Nibbles. In her nightmare, it's Mr. Nibbles who is experimenting on Lisa.
- Shout-Out: In the twins' nightmare of broccoli, they're dressed as the Grady twins from Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, complete with Speak in Unison and Creepy Monotone. Lincoln and Clyde only conquer the nightmare via Ghostbusters-esque ranch dressing blasters.
- "What Do They Fear?" Episode: Everyone who ate the cursed cheesecake is placed in a magical coma and tormented by their worst nightmare.
- Lana and Lola are chased by a giant broccoli monster.
- Lisa is trapped in a rat maze overseen my a giant Mr. Nibbles.
- Luna is stuck in the TV singing commercial jingles.
- Lynn Jr. has to make the winning shot with seconds left on the clock, but she's wearing cinderblock shoes.
- Luan is abandoned by Mr. Coconuts and trapped in a sitcom with an increasingly unamused Live Studio Audience.
- Lynn Sr. deals with Empty Nest Syndrome in the worst way when Lily becomes giant.
- Leni turns out to be Too Dumb to Fool and doesn't have a nightmare. She does, however, eat more cheesecake as soon as she wakes up.
