Recap / The Real Ghostbusters S 2 E 15 Ghost Busted

Go To

Everyone is milling around aimlessly in the firehouse. They haven't been getting many calls, and while they do think it's nice to get a break, they're also a bit bored. Upon getting a call that turns out to be a salesman, Egon fears that they'll go bankrupt. He and Winston decide they must all get a second job each.

So, Peter works in a chemistry lab, Egon becomes a car salesman, Winston become a cabbie, Janine takes a desk job somewhere else, and Ray works at a zoo, but all have trouble. One night, as Slimer is in a locked electronics store eating a stolen pretzel, a burglar sees him, discovers he can fly through walls, and offers him food in exchange for helping him.

Slimer and the burglar rob a jeweller's shop, but the Ghostbusters and Janine are outside. They see the robber and chase him, then Peter makes a barred structure fall onto him with his proton pack, catching him. This makes headline news and they get rewarded with ten thousand dollars, so Winston decides that they should make money by becoming vigilantes.

They drive off to catch some bank robbers, with some traps that are modified to trap humans. This works, and they make a great deal of money working as crime fighters and calling themselves the "Crimebusters". However, a criminal leader is angry at this and decides to "take care" of them.

When the "Crimebusters" arrive home, they find Janine gone. Slimer tries and fails to say what happened, but then Peter finds a note saying that they must stop fighting crime if they want to see her again, and it's signed "Crime Lord".

The "Crimebusters" and Slimer use the tracking device to track Janine into a dark, spooky area. They find her tied up in an old train, but Ray trips and accidentally fires his proton pack, alerting the guys who have her captive. They start shooting at the "Crimebusters", but Egon magnetises a rail on the railroad so their guns stick to the rail, the "Crimebusters" cage Janine's captors, and Slimer unties Janine.

Everyone flies in a helicopter to the Crime Lord's place, but he traps the "Crimebusters" behind an unbreakable wall. He goes to the roof in a lifting chair, so they follow, but he escapes in a helicopter. The "Crimebusters" give chase in their own helicopter, but the Crime Lord fires at them. Eventually, however, the "Crimebusters" manage to shoot the Crime Lord down and catch him.

However, Egon realises they've had every criminal in New York arrested. Luckily, however, they start getting calls about ghosts again.
