Recap / The Real Ghostbusters S 2 E 14 Doctor Doctor

Go To

The Ghostbusters are chasing a very quick ghost. They chase him into a chemistry lab, but Peter accidentally fires at a vat of pink stuff. This ends up causing a lot of spills and explosions, but the Ghostbusters survive unscathed and trap the ghost. Egon and Ray note the oddity at the ghost being registered as a Class 2 despite previously showing up as a Class 3, then the scientists tell the Ghostbusters off for the damage they did. However, Peter brushes them off, saying the owner gave them permission.

Later, the Ghostbusters take showers to get the gunk off them, but they still feel bad, and Egon's arm begins swelling and pulsing. Janine later goes back to work after going shopping, only to find Slimer acting nervous and claiming not to be hungry. She enters the dining room, to find all four Ghostbusters once again covered in pink gunk, which they reveal is growing on their bodies and through their clothes. Ray reveals that he called the chemistry lab, but they can't identify the substance as all their chemicals mixed together in the explosion, so the Ghostbusters go to the hospital.

The doctors think the Ghostbusters are fine, but they can't be certain, so they keep them in beds and study them. Janine comes over with food for Egon and Ray and books for Winston, but then Ray reveals he's grown an eye on his chest. The doctors examine Ray, but find no cause for the eye, and Janine confronts one doctor and he reveals that it may take five or six years to treat the Ghostbusters.

Later, the doctor gives the non-Egon Ghostbusters, now in wheelchairs, injections, but they grow sick of it and chase him with a giant syringe. Janine and Slimer later meet up with Ray, who the doctors have been zapping with electricity, and the doctor tells Janine to take Slimer away. Then, some goop flies off Ray's hand and towards Slimer, only to fly back onto Ray when Slimer leaves.

Meanwhile, the Ghostbusters are grossing everyone out, and Peter has grown an ear on his chest, Winston a mouth, and Egon a nose. Egon determines that they could get rid of the goop by zapping it, but they'd have to get it off them first. The substance then starts moving and they note that it seems to be responding to Slimer.

They ask Janine to let him into the hallway, and she reluctantly does, so the slime jumps off the Ghostbusters and coalesces into a creature. The creature chases Slimer, intent on eating him, but the Ghostbusters grab their proton packs and fire at him until he explodes (they need to do this as he's not a ghost and thus can't be trapped). A week later, the Ghostbusters are allowed to go home, but are given a medical fee. However, it's the same as the bill they charge for their services, so no one ends up paying anything.

  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Peter inadvertently starts the trouble by accidentally firing at a vat of goop.
  • Your Favorite: Janine knows what Egon's favourite food is (chicken soup) supposedly due to her crush on him.
