Go To

Clark returns from his stint as Jan's sexual assistant and Dwight enlists his help to make a sale. Darryl travels to Philadelphia with Pam to interview at Jim's new company. Meanwhile, Pam starts to realize that her family may have to leave Scranton.

Tropes in this episode:

  • Black Comedy Pet Death: Darryl tries to finish his interview grabbing a basketball and doing a field goal. It hits the rim and bounces into the light fixture above a fish tank. Cue awkward silence.
  • The Bus Came Back: Clark returns from his sexual liaison with Jan Levinson.
  • Continuity Nod: Oscar had previously expressed disbelief at discovering there's hardwood under the carpeting when Dwight fired a gunshot into the ground. In this episode, he sees the hardwood floor under the carpet again and encourages everyone to tear the carpeting up.
  • Innocently Insensitive: The employee at Athlead who cheerfully tells Pam "We can't wait for you to move here!" He unknowingly sets up a bout of anxiety in Pam who hadn't even considered the possibility of moving to Philadelphia.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Dwight expects Jim to join him for one of their joint sales pitches where they pose as brothers... not caring that Jim is all the way in Philadelphia.
Dwight: Get in your car and drive down here. You can make it in 30 minutes if you drive 240 miles per hour.
  • Klatchian Coffee: The office workers decide to sample all the flavors of espresso in the coffee maker Jan gifted them, which causes all of them to experience a caffeine high. Once the rush dies down, they become manic and irritable, and start tearing away the carpet floor of the office. By the time Pam and Darryl come back, the entire office is in disarray.
  • Serious Business: Erin trying to figure out what she's supposed to do with the shipment of pens that Pam ordered and asked her to take care of.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Darryl, after making several flubs in his interview with Athlead, decides to just pack it in and dismiss himself as too unqualified for the job because of being a warehouse manager. Jim and the rest of the executives cheer him up by reminding him that they all started from menial jobs too. This brings his confidence back and he ends up getting the job.
