Tropes

  • Oh, Crap!: Nellie, twice. The first is when she notices Pete and Erin flirting and mistakenly believes her putting them together for the project is what caused this development. The second is when Toby begins flirting with her under the perception that they're a couple now, after having kissed three episodes prior.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Justified. Brian has apparently become a good friend of Jim and Pam while the filming was going on, but the crew couldn't show themselves in the documentary. In the end of the episode, Pam refers to Brian as if they were longtime friends and he consoles her as such.
  • Shipper on Deck: By the end of the episode, Nellie for Pete/Erin, believing they are a better fit then Andy/Erin.
  • Sudden Downer Ending: The episode is fairly positive and Pam is very excited to finally talk with Jim, but they have a huge fight soon and the end of the episode is one of the saddest in the series, to the point that the filming crew themselves step in, with Brian, the sound guy, consoling a crying Pam while asking everyone to turn off the cameras.
