The body of a young surfer girl is washed up on the Santa Marta Beach and Patrick socializes with her friends to find the killer.
- Accidental Murder: Danny punched a security guard who broke his skull in his fall, accidentally killing him.
- Alcoholic Parent: Christine's father Jack fell into alcoholism since the death of his wife after a car accident. He lets Christine take care of his younger children while he sombers into alcohol.
- Batman Gambit:
- Jane provokes Dane into punching him so he can be interrogated.
- Jane pretended to hypnotize Christine's friends, and Hope pretending to see Danny's father confirmed for Jane that the tensions in the group are caused due to all having killed her.
- Beware the Nice Ones: Hope might seem like a free-spirited, kind girl, but she was actually dead jealous of Christine, and was the one who knocked her out with a shovel before convincing her friends to kill her.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: All of Christine's friends, but especially Hope, who even tried to convince herself she was a good person.
- Constructive Body Disposal: A security guard was punched and fell into the concrete. It is uncovered due to his nose still just being visible.

- Even Evil Has Standards: Hope seemed disgusted with Danny's father who had sex with 15 year old Christine.
- Everyone Has Standards: Beach bum Flipper, who's an alcoholic stoner and was arrested for beating a girl, refused to try any sexual advances on Christine, since she was a minor. Even if he's a creep, he states he waits for them to be 18 and legally consenting.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Both Jane and Danny state that Hope was jealous of Christine, which fueled her murderous rage.

- Harmful to Minors: A minor example, but Christine's body was found by a little girl, who was quickly pulled away by her mother.

- Manipulative Bitch: Jane was the only one who could see this face in Hope, who was the one who influenced her friends to kill Christine.

- The Reveal: Van Pelt states that Christine's story (mother killed in a car accident, alcoholic father) was the exact same thing that happened to Lisbon.
- She Knows Too Much: Christine was the only one who didn't want to keep Eddie Garcia's murder a secret and to rightfully tell the authorities. It lead to her own friends murdering her so no one would know about this.
- She Who Fights Monsters: Hope wants to help Jane find Christine's killer, while she was actually the one who orchestrated her murder. Possibly out of guilt, and to incarcerate Danny's father who was sleeping with Christine.
