Recap / The Loud House S 6 E 6 A Bugs Strife All The Rage

Go To

A Bug's Strife: Lynn Sr. gets out of a visit to Aunt Ruth's by Playing Sick, leaving the house all to himself. Karma soon strikes in the form of a cricket who drives the poor man up the walls.

A Bug's Strife

  • Amplified Animal Aptitude: Cliff knows how to use a cell phone and takes a pic of Lynn Sr.
  • Call-Back:
    • Like "Two Boys and a Baby", a Loud stays behind to get out of visiting Aunt Ruth, only to have to go there anyway because Rita thinks they're sick.
    • Cliff maliciously taking pictures of Lynn Sr. in an embarrassing moment and snickering when Lynn Sr. warns him not to post those is similar to Lori and Lily in "Room With a Feud".
    • Lynn Sr. attempts to get back inside the Loud House by using a trampoline to get into the twins' room but missing the shot (like Lincoln trying to trampoline himself back in his room in "Cover Girls"). He also attempts to go down the chimney like in "Schooled!", and even acknowledges that he's done it before.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Lynn Sr. is the star of the episode.
  • Fly Crazy: Well, it's a cricket, not a fly, but the principle applies. Lynn Sr. spends the day getting annoyed by a cricket, and ends up destroying the house trying to get rid of it.
  • Only One Finds It Fun: Aunt Ruth subjects Rita and the kids to her slideshows of the Malls of the Midwest. Leni is the only one to enjoy it.
  • Pass the Popcorn: The pets watch Lynn Sr.'s constant attempts to get back inside the house with great amusement, even eating popcorn in the process.
  • Playing Sick: Lynn Sr. does this to get out of seeing Aunt Ruth.
  • Toilet Humor: While chasing the cricket, Lynn Sr. briefly pauses the chase to use the bathroom.

All The Rage: Lincoln and his friends discover that Clyde is practically unstoppable in dodgeball when enraged enough. When they learn they have to play the eighth graders just as Clyde's Berserk Button subsides, they must find a way to get him angry and ready to play.

All the Rage

  • A Taste of Their Own Medicine: Girl Jordan, usually known to be ruthless during dodgeball matches, ends up getting annihilated herself by an angry Clyde during the first match of the episode.
  • Berserk Button: Clyde's rage is mostly ignited by littering and anything related to Zamir (prior to him getting reinstated into Operation: Dessert Storm) like non-regulated items, recipes from Zamir's blog, and whisks.
  • Brick Joke: Mr. Bolhofner tells Lincoln about a dodgeball team in Iceland that could squish them like bugs, then at the end, Bolhofner announces that said team has shown up to play the 6th graders.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Whenever Clyde gets extremely angry, he starts to deliver some of these to any rival team during dodgeball. Just ask Girl Jordan.
  • Dodgeball Is Hell: To the point where the opposing team snatches the balls before Lincoln and his friends can take them. Unfortunately for the opposing team, they end up on the receiving end of this trope once Clyde enters the scene...
  • Gone Horribly Right: The gang taps into Clyde's rage in volleyball so much Mr. Bolhofner is impressed and decides to recruit them to fight the eighth graders.
  • Gross-Up Close-Up: In an attempt to anger Clyde once more, the gang has Rusty chew gum and show off his gum-covered mouth in its full glory in front of Clyde. However, Clyde is just grossed out.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: In a way:
    • Girl Jordan has often been brutal against Lincoln and his friends during dodgeball matches. Here, she ends up on the receiving end of a Curb-Stomp Battle, courtesy of an angry Clyde.
    • Three of the classmates shown here were also the ones who trashed Lincoln's gang during dodgeball in Schooled!. Here, they are the ones annihilated by Clyde.
  • Liar Revealed: Clyde's rage during the first half of this segment is fueled by Zamir, his favorite contestant on "Operation: Dessert Storm", being accused of cheating. However, after a closer inspection, Zamir is acquitted and brought back into the show.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: When the gang finds out Clyde's main source of rage has been nullified, Liam vents out his rage by letting out a very high-pitched scream.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: The gang's final attempt to invoke Clyde's rage is to dump garbage all over the school grounds. His reaction? Like any sane student would: report it to Principal Ramirez, forcing the gang to confess that they've been exploiting his rage.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Lincoln and his friends are known for getting pummelled in dodgeball in numerous episodes. Minus Rusty, the rest of the gang go through the dodgeball games with barely a scratch, courtesy of an enraged Clyde.
  • Unstoppable Rage: Get Clyde angry enough and he will annihilate anyone at dodgeball.
