Recap / The Loud House S 6 E 5 The Taunting Hour Musical Chairs

Go To

The Taunting Hour: Lynn is in a bad mood when Scoots heckles her during a soccer game, costing her the match. Lincoln tries to help by showing her his family members' own critics, but the others soon begin to get affected.

"The Taunting Hour"

  • Aesop Amnesia: The last time Lincoln blabbed about the personal secrets of the family, it led to an all-out Brawl In the Family. He seems to have forgotten, because he and Lynn end up doing just that once more.
    • Potentially downplayed, since the overall implication is that the Louds with critics (bar Lincoln and Lynn) are unaware/ignorant of their critics UNTIL they're made aware of them.
  • Can't Take Criticism: Upon learning of their critics, the Louds are so affected that they can't function properly at their respective occupations. This leads to them rebuking Lincoln for having informed them of their haters.
  • Jerkass Ball: The Loud Family holds a big one when they start confronting Lincoln and calling him a life-ruiner, parents included.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: At dinner, Lynn and Lincoln end up blabbing out the family's own critics, which ends up causing them to start hallucinating their harshest critics and crack under pressure.
  • Oh, Crap!: Lynn Sr.'s reaction at the end, to the news from Mr. Grouse that the former forgot to put on the parking brake on Vanzilla again.
  • Quivering Eyes: Each of the Louds gain these when Lincoln informs them of their critics.
  • Sanity Slippage: Lynn felt her Emu-based condition worsening to the point that she starts acting like the large flightless bird.
  • The Scapegoat: Unfortunately, Lincoln ends up being this after the criticized Louds blame him for their own mess-ups and dub him a "life-ruiner".
  • Series Continuity Error: Luan is among the Louds who have difficulty dealing with critics and hecklers, when the episode "Head Poet's Anxiety" showed her coaching Lucy in developing a thick skin and dealing with harsh comments.
  • Shoot the Messenger: Downplayed. When the Louds find out about their respective critics, they collectively blame Lincoln and call him a life-ruiner because he told them about it.
  • Shout-Out: The title of this episode is a pun of R. L. Stine's anthology series The Haunting Hour.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Blabbing about your own family's critics is bound to demoralize them.
  • Terms of Endangerment: Luna often calls Lincoln "bro" or "dude" as an Affectionate Nickname. Here, she says those nicknames in a rather threatening way when she and the other criticized Louds confront Lincoln for telling them about their critics.
  • There Was a Door: When Lynn confronts Lincoln to tell him off about her critic, she punches the front door…and then opens it from the inside.
  • Truth in Television: See Surprisingly Realistic Outcome.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: The rest of the Louds give Lincoln grief when his observations about their critics make them feel nervous.

Musical Chairs: Lincoln can't stand being seated in front of Chandler, so he arranges for his teacher Mr. Bolhofner to join the Doo-Dads for a better seat.

"Musical Chairs"

  • Butt Biter: The episode ends with Hank biting Chandler's butt after Lincoln manages to have his desk's seat fling him into the piranha's fish tank.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Lincoln's attempts to butter up Mr. Bolhofner come off as this. Most notably, while Mr. B. is tracking bears, Lincoln gives him some food, which, unfortunately, attracts a hungry bear.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Chandler steals Lincoln's seat near the end of the episode, but gets kicked out by Lincoln pressing a button that causes that very seat to fling him skyward and right into Hank's tank.
  • Misery Builds Character: Mr. Bolhofner cites this as the reason for initially refusing to move Lincoln to a different seat.
  • Rotten Rock & Roll: Mr. Bolhofner transforms the Doo Dads into this.
  • Selective Enforcement: Mr. Bolhofner doesn't seem to notice when Chandler kicks at Lincoln. But when Lincoln tries to ask Chandler to quit it, he's given detention for talking.
  • That Man Is Dead: Mr. Bolhofner declares that the Doo Dads are dead before announcing that they're now the Raging Bolhofners.
  • Vegetarian Carnivore: Mr. Bolhofner is putting Hank, the class piranha, on a vegan diet.
