Scoop Snoop
The Action News Team finds out that every time they investigate something, Katherine Mulligan has the exact same scoop. So they attempt to investigate who's been snooping on them.
- Affection-Hating Kid: The kids all cringe when Katherine kisses Rodney. Rusty in particular admits that he does not want to see that ever again.
- Air Quotes: Lincoln does plenty of these when instructing the rest of the team. He does so much of this when reciting a plan that Clyde asks him to explain again, because he was getting confused by all the air quotes.
- Call-Back:
- Like in "House Music", Mick Swagger is disguised as an elderly person, this time as an elderly woman.
- As in "Kernel of Truth", Zach is disguised as a bush.
- Foreshadowing: Rusty mentions that his dad is dating a "news hottie". Turns out it's Katherine Mulligan.
- Missing Mom: Implied to be the case of whomever Rusty's mom is, as Rodney (Rusty's dad) is dating Katherine Mulligan.
- Mobile Shrubbery: Zach disguised himself this way when spying on Katherine.
- Red Herring: Chef Pat, art teacher Mr. Mu, and Principal Ramirez are all accused of leaking stories to Katherine. However, they each have an alibi:
- Chef Pat was calling her meat provider when she was falsely told of a meat shortage.
- Mr. Mu seems like he's going to call Katherine when he is falsely told that Flip's Food 'n' Fuel is closing, but instead, he was calling the museum about Clyde's painting of Rusty.
- Principal Ramirez was actually swapping books with Katherine, as they both attend the same book club.
Eye Can't
Trying to avoid a trip to the eye doctor, Lisa makes a new pair of glasses that actually makes her eyesight worse.
- Adults Are Useless: Dr. Tran never informs Lynn Sr. and Rita when Lisa goes missing, or goes to look for her.
- Big Eater: Mr. Grouse agrees to let the Louds borrow his car in exchange for ten lasagnas.
- Bilingual Bonus: Since Dr. Tran doesn't speak French, Lisa whispers to Todd over the comm to pick her up in French. Specifically, she says: "Je suis au troisième étage. Aidez-moi à m'échapper." ("I am on the third floor. Help me to escape.")
- Blind Mistake: Lisa's eyesight has gotten worse, even with her glasses, so she ends up being a lot less aware of her surroundings. Even Leni, who is the resident ditz, feels the need to correct her.
- Money Fetish: Flip is shown going as far as swimming in a fountain to collect cents. Later, a dumpster.
- Strapped to an Operating Table: Lisa has an Imagine Spot of this being done to her by a Mad Scientist-esque ophthalmologist.
