"The Write Stuff"
Rita takes over the writing club when Principal Huggins's by-the-book methods causes Lucy to consider quitting.
- Ace Pilot: Rita once again proves her expert piloting skills.
- Cool Teacher: Rita acts as this to the members of the writing club, allowing the kids to express themselves and taking them on field trips to places such as Flip's Food & Fuel and the the Sunset Canyon Retirement Home, as opposed to the by the book way Principal Huggins ran the club.

- Hypocritical Humor: Principal Huggins insists on Rita teaching the writing club by reading from the rule book, but it's enough to even bore him to sleep after a while.
- Technician vs. Performer: In terms of how they run the club, Principal Huggins is the Technician to Rita's Performer.
- The End: Using the plane, Rita writes "The End" in the sky at the end of the episode.
- Vomit Discretion Shot: Happens to Principal Huggins when he, Rita, and the writing club go skywriting while discussing gerunds.
"Racing Hearts"
Luna and Sam embark on a scavenger hunt across Royal Woods and discover they have vastly different styles.
- 10-Minute Retirement: Well more like, one minute break up. Luna and Sam lose faith in their relationship after the sailing debacle, that is until their equally terrible baking skills reignite that spark.
- Animals Hate Him: Luna gets attacked by some chickens.
- Art Evolution: Sam's design gets a slight tweak in this episode, with the addition of pink eyeshadow.
- Ascended Extra: Sam is finally given much greater prominence beyond being a background character, also opening up a dynamic with Luna.
- Blush Sticker: These appear on Luna and Sam throughout the episode.
- Broken Ace: Once again, Lynn Jr proves to be this in the episode. She is shown to have won the Royal Woods Scavenger Hunt in previous years (even when competing against several adults) with ease and does so again in this episode, despite carrying the elderly and disabled Scoots as her partner. She effortlessly overcomes every challenge and obstacle that Luna and Sam were struggling with, quicker than everyone else in the event (which was near enough everyone in Royal Woods), showing her vast range of abilities and talents. Despite this, she also got herself banned from the competition by Mayor Davis because she is too over-competitive, aggressive and boastful. This episode demonstrates both her talent and her flaws perfectly.
- The Bus Came Back: For Darcy, one of Lisa's schoolmates; she makes a cameo in the laser maze.
- The Cameo:
- Lisa makes a cameo in the laser maze, playing with her friend Darcy.
- Lola and Lana make a cameo participating at the local gym.
- Most of the supporting, minor and background characters who live in Royal Woods for the matter all show up in the background at the start of the episode for the big event.
- Character Development: After being a background character for most of the series, this episode finally expands upon Sam's character more. It's revealed that she likes rock climbing, sailing, and understands chickens. She also seems to like kale smoothies.
- Continuity Nod: Luna's crush on Sam was previously a plot point of "L is for Love", while this episode gives them one-on-one interactions and further reveals the latter's feelings for the former.
- Crush Blush: What Luna and Sam do to convey their affection.
- Cuteness Proximity: Lori and Leni react this way over Luna and Sam sharing a hug. Then Leni reacts similarly over witnessing a cute dog.
- A Day in the Limelight: For Luna and Sam.
- Epic Fail: Several of Sam and Luna's challenges have one of them do this.
- Hard Truth Aesop: Just because two people are attracted to each other doesn't necessarily mean that they're going to like the same things as each other.
- Hidden Depths: Sure, Lynn was in disguise as an old lady and teamed up with Scoots, but it's cool to know that she's excellent at baking. In fact, it is her apple pie that wins her and Scoots the competition.
- Hoist by Her Own Petard: However, it is Lynn's gloating after winning the scavenger hunt that comes back to bite her. She taunts the others so hard that her wig falls off, ruining her "Helen" disguise and causing Mayor Davis to chase after her in outrage, since she wasn't supposed to be allowed to participate after the previous year.
- Laugh of Love: After Luna and Sam's attempt at mixing up pie batter fails, Luna finds it hysterical that Sam got hit with the batter while she didn't and starts laughing. Then Sam mischievously pulls Luna into a hug to get the batter on her, too, causing them to both fall on the floor laughing and reigniting the spark between them.
- Lethal Chef: Neither Luna nor Sam are good at baking. They don't even get to the point where they can put their pie in the oven, the mix accidentally getting splattered everywhere.
- Literal-Minded: Leni, as usual, delivers one of these moments:
Luna: I thought me and Sam were gonna have a lot in common, but it turns out we have nada.
Leni: Well, at least you have "nada".
- Never My Fault: Lynn shrugs off the idea that her over-aggressive competitiveness got her banned from the quest.
- Outdoorsy Gal: Sam is fond of farms, sailing, rock climbing, and likes organic products.
- Running Gag:
- Lori having to keep Leni on a leash.
- Luna or Sam failing in a hilarious manner at the various challenges they undertake during the scavenger hunt, accompanied by them saying "it's not really their thing".
- Shipper on Deck: Lori and Leni largely support the Luna/Sam pairing.
- Speaks Fluent Animal: It's revealed that Sam can communicate with chickens.
- Spit Take: Luna spits out her kale smoothie at Sam due to the rancid taste of fish oil.
- Town Contest Episode: The episode focuses on Luna and Sam competing in a town scavenger hunt across Royal Woods that helps them realize they have different interests. They bond and strengthen their relationship as a result.
