Recap / The Interns S 3 E 10

Go To

Levin accidentally sends his and Lyuba's erotic photos to somebody else instead of Lyuba... and neither he nor she knows to whom. They manages to find the guy... but not before he uploaded all photos to internet.

Lobanov must deal with stress after breakup with Olga; when Kupitman's plan (just get drunk) fails, Bykov suggests him that work is the best treatment. Lots of work. This still fails, and Kupitman decides to make another attempt, only to be interrupted by Bykov. This leads to them arguing with each other, ignoring Semyon, until Kisegach appears and takes Semyon with her. Her suggestion? To just talk with somebody who would understand him; she knows, since she is divorced herself. But instead of helping him, she remembers her story with Victor Romanenko, and sides with Olga, reminding Semyon that the whole situation with his (ex)wife is his fault in the first place, which obviously makes his condition worse. Tired of their advices, Semyon decides to just take some alcohol from a nurse Galya, and get wasted... which ends in him having a one night stand with her.

Varya's patient is a high-ranking criminal. This poses a problem, since she needs to give him colonoscopy, and for Russian mobsters, their ass is rather... sacred place. After failing to convince the patient, Varya just sedates him and does everything while he's asleep, not thinking that he would understand what just happened when he awakes and feels unfamiliar pain below his waist. Fortunately, before it goes too far, Bykov helps Varya by explaining to the patient that he is not the first and not the last one to have health problems (even amongst the gangsters), and that here is nothing to be ashamed of; and if he still is, both Bykov and Varya are doctors, and their ethics forbids them from revealing such secrets.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Ass Shove: When Varya's patient obstinately refuses colonoscopy, she just sedates him and does it anyway. Bykov then explains to her that she did a grave mistake, and that once the patient awakes and feels a strange, unfamiliar pain in his ass, he would instantly recognise its source. And who may be the culprit. Fortunately, Bykov defuses the situation before it comes too far.
  • Confess in Confidence: Kisegach suggests Lobanov to deal with his depression by telling about his problems to somebody who can understand him, like herself (she'd divorced Gleb's father Victor many years ago). This fails, since she actually takes Olya's side, and starts reprimanding Semyon, which obviously makes his condition worse.
  • Defiled Forever: Anything involving anal sex (or even remotely related to it) is considered to be extreme taboo amongst Russian mobsters. Varya is not aware of this, and proceeds to give her patient colonoscopy, despite his obstinate objections (she just sedates him and does it anyway). Only Bykov intervening and reassuring the patient that this would remain a secret convinces him to leave her alone.
  • The Don: Varya's patient is a high-ranking criminal. This is a problem, since she needs to give him colonoscopy, despite anything ass-related being considered to be extremely humiliating and forbidden amongst Russian mobsters.
  • Drowning My Sorrows:
    • Kupitman suggests Lobanov to deal with his depression by getting drunk (while talking with Kupitman). This doesn't work. Later Kupitman decides to make another attempt, but Bykov interrupts them in time.
    • In the end, Lobanov just gets wasted on his own; it results in him having a drunk one night stand with nurse Galya.
  • Intimate Psychotherapy: After advices from Kupitman, Bykov and Kisegach each fails to help him with his depression, Lobanov decides to just ask nurse Galya (who also had an ugly breakup with her boyfriend) for alcohol and get wasted. This leads to them sleeping together... and actually makes them both feeling better next day.
  • Instant Humiliation: Just Add YouTube!: Levin and Lyuba fails to return their photos in time, since the guy who received them uploaded them to internet before they even managed to catch him, as he considered them to too hilarious to not share. When caught, he shamelessly mocks them.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: When Levin and Lyuba sees their photos on a fetish site, with three thousands watches already, Levin tries to assure Lyuba that no one they know would ever find this, since "only perverts would use this site anyway"... and then Kupitman appears and mocks Levin for his "Little Red Riding Hood" roleplay with Lyuba, where he played wolf.
  • The Mafiya: Varya's patient is a member of some gang, complete with very specific tattoos; and not just the ordinary member, but the high-ranking one. This leads to the problems, since Varya needs to give him colonoscopy — despite everything ass-related being considered to be extremely humiliating and forbidden amongst Russian mobsters.
  • Married to the Job: Bykov thinks that if he forces Lobanov to work (and work, and work...), he would not have time for depression or self-destruction. This doesn't work.
  • Out of Focus: Gleb doesn't appear in any of this episode's storylines.
  • Secret-Keeper: Bykov resolves Varya's problems by convincing the patient that medical ethics forbids them from sharing information about their patients with anyone.
  • Tattooed Crook: Varya's patient has the obvious criminal tattoos, which basically screams that he is a mobster (more so, high-ranking one). Varya fails to notice this, which leads to the problems later on.
