Recap / The Interns S 2 E 2

Go To

Gleb goes into conflict with Varya because of his old girl (whose contact, named simply "Boobs", he still not deleted). At first, he tries to hide it, but then lets her just sit with him and delete all numbers she doesn't like. Except, he wrote all numbers down, and now Varya feels offended by his lie. Gleb deletes them for real, but then presses her to admit that she has hidden male numbers, which she denies. When pressed, she reveals a single male number – "Babyboy"... which is Gleb's number.

Semyon decided to earn some money by selling dietary supplements... right in the hospital. Bykov is not amused, but can't bust the dealer. Unfortunately, Kisegach, with whom he had a discussion about salary increase before, just keeps seeing him at the worst possible times, and mistake him for the seller.

Levin was bitten in the ass by Lyuba; when Kupitman accidentally learns about this, Levin asks him to keep this in secret. Kupitman decides to learn more from Lyuba herself... only to find out that it was not her who bit Levin. Now, Lyuba thinks that Levin cheated on her; unknowingly to her, it wasn't even a woman who bit Levin — it was some kid in the elevator. Kupitman helps Levin by bribing that kid into biting Lyuba as well, to make her believe his story.

This episode provides examples of:

  • All for Nothing: Lobanov tries to make some money by selling dietary supplements right in the hospital, despite being aware what Bykov would do with him if Semyon gets caught. Semyon fails to sell anything and actually gets caught, but before Bykov could do anything, Kisegach appears, and since she offered Bykov salary rise if he "quits" (she previously mistook Bykov for selling those supplements), Bykov lets Semyon go... for now.
  • Blatant Lies: Lobanov tries to deceive Bykov, so he wouldn't find out that Semyon is the one who sells the dietary supplements; he's... not very good at it:
    • Lobanov's attempts to hide the truth are laughably bad; him overacting does not make them any better. Bykov is too angry to notice this, even when Semyon tries to take boxes with dietary supplements from him.
    • Lobanov tries the same tactics again when his second phone rings in the same room with Bykov, saying that it was "his wife". This completely fails and Semyon gets saved only by the timed appearance of Kisegach, who decides to raise Bykov's salary if he would "promise" to never try anything like this again (she thought that it was Bykov who sells these dietary supplements); as revealing the truth would mean not getting the rise, Bykov lets Semyon go, for now.
  • Brick Joke: How Lyuba learns that Levin tells her the truth? That same kid who bit Levin bites her, too.
  • Embarrassment Plot: Levin was bitten in the ass by a kid, hard enough to leave marks, and now tries to hide this from Lyuba. Kupitman accidentally learns about this (and, trough him, Lyuba, who mistakes this for him cheating on her). To prove that it was, in fact, a kid, Levin is forced to show his ass firstly to a dentist, then to several other doctors. It is not even clear if they are really required, or they came here just for fun.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Lobanov gets away when caught for the first time, as Bykov pays no attention to clear clues that Lobanov is lying — neither his lame excuses, nor him trying to take the box back.
  • Gilligan Cut: When Gleb suggests to just sit together and delete all female numbers from his phone, one by one, Varya tells him that she has other things to do. Cut to them doing exactly this.
  • Hypocrite: Varya insists that Gleb must delete all female contacts from his phone. When he suggest to check male contacts in her phone, and finds some "Babyboy" here, she tries to hide it, insisting that "your phone is your personal matter". However, later it turns out that said "Babyboy" was... Gleb himself, and this is why she tried to hide it, as the truth was just embarrassing.
  • Mistaken for Cheating: When Lyuba learns about a bite mark on Levin's ass, she mistakes it for him cheating on her. In truth, he was bitten... by a kid in the elevator, hard enough to leave marks.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Kisegach just keeps seeing Bykov at the worst moments, mistaking him for dietary supplements dealer. Ultimately, Bykov manages to exploit it in his favour.
  • Refuge in Audacity: Semyon has an idea to sell dietary supplements right in the hospital. Gleb outright tells him that it's extremely moronic and warns him what Bykov would do with him if he finds out. Semyon still tries; he gets away the first time (Bykov is too angry due to unrelated problem, and pays no attention to details), but gets busted the second; he avoids repercussions, because Kisegach appears and agrees to Bykov's demands (he wants salary rise) if he "stops selling dietary supplements" (she still believes that it's Bykov who sells them), to which Bykov "agrees" (and lets Semyon go, as he can't press the issue now).
