A Plot: Barry asks his friends to help him get the autograph of David Hasselhoff while he's in town. Adam asks Beverly's friends to support her so she's emotionally prepared for him to go to NYU. When Beverly acts unusually fine about Adam leaving, Adam lies that he's been hired by Hasselhoff as an excuse to stay in town and by her side.
B Plot: Geoff and Erica want to learn the sex of their baby, but when they actually go to the doctor's, Erica changes her mind and threatens the doctor into withholding the information from her. Later, Lou Schwartz examines the sonogram with a jeweler's loop and informs Geoff "That's a Schwartz Man!", leading Geoff to keep it a secret from his wife despite him not wanting to keep it a secret.
- Brick Joke: Midway through the episode, Barry tricks the JTP into coming over and brainstorming ways to get to Hasselhoff by saying he's invented a new pizza flavor: barbecue ribs, fried rice, and taco seasoning. In The Tag, he actually cooks and serves them this pizza...but it tastes horrible.
- Call-Back: After Adam eventually admits his Psychological Projection, Barry admits that the reason he wanted Hasselhoff's autograph was because of Murray's love for Knight Rider, as seen in episodes like "Holy K.I.T.T.".
- Cordon Bleugh Chef: In The Tag, Barry makes a pizza for the JTP using rib meat...with the rib bones left in, "for flavor".
- Hypocrite: After learning that Geoff knows the sex of their baby and forbidding him from telling her, insisting that she doesn't want to know and punishing Geoff by making him keep a secret he doesn't want to keep, Erica immediately goes to the doctor herself and tries to get the information from them while asking the staff not to inform Geoff that she visited.
- Psychological Projection: It turns out that Beverly is indeed alright with Adam leaving, but Adam himself isn't emotionally prepared to go to NYU so soon after Murray's death.
- "Shaggy Dog" Story: The B Plot ends with Geoff and Erica both realizing that what they assumed about their baby's sex was mistaken (Lou Schwartz had misidentified a pinky finger as a penis, and the file Erica peeped into at the doctor's office was for herself), and after seeing their baby healthy in an ultrasound, deciding that it doesn't matter after all and leaving it a mystery.
- Special Guest: David Hasselhoff appears as himself.
