Molly and her family want to raise money to rebuild the old bandshell in the park after they fail to convince the city council to approve it.

This episode includes examples of:

  • Bait-and-Switch: In-Universe. Molly tries to trick the City planning council into agreeing to help fund the renovation of the Bandshell by first proposing an overblown mega park as an initial offer, that's so over the top that they brush it off until she can come to them with a more 'realistic' proposal, leaving them open for Molly to propose the smaller and more reasonable alternative of the bandshell that she actually wants.
  • Black Comedy Burst: During the construction of the bandshell, one of the old men dies and Scratch forces his spirit back into his body so he can get back to work.
Come donate your energies / Spackle all those crevices
Take a break, and catch some Z's / Oh, wait, no — THAT MAN'S DECEASED!
  • Bland-Name Product: Molly uses a "Video Grounder" wagon to haul around the model bandshell while soliciting donations.
  • Brick Joke: The council member who ate a donut out of the Mayor’s hand after Molly had passed them out of her presentation, later brings donuts to the Community Work Day.
  • Child Hater: Played for laughs with Scratch, who considers it an ordinary afternoon pastime to go down to the park and make fun of babies for being stupid, including drawing a "HEY BABY! YA STINK!!" placard.
  • Counting to Potato: One of the residents at the nursing home does this while he’s having Pete write down all his complaints to take to the City Council.
Old Man: 1) Libraries - Why should my taxes pay for books so other people can read for free? B) Public parks…
  • Didn't Think This Through: Molly goes through all the trouble of rebuilding the bandshell, only to realize she never considered who they'd book to use it.
  • Epic Fail: When Darryl is playing cards with some of the men at the nursing home, Scratch points out that one of them is using a napkin as a card.
  • Exact Words: Scratch comes to Molly with a large bag of cash that he says he's collected honestly. When police sirens start wailing in the distance, a horrified Molly asks Scratch if he robbed a bank. Scratch says he did not, but when a dye pack goes off in his face he explains that he robbed a credit union.
  • Flipping the Table: After the city council rejects Molly's proposal, Scratch tries to flip over a chair. The council just sees the chair fall over by itself.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Scratch comes to Molly complaining that he thinks that one of the card players is cheating. Molly promptly adds the "also" to the sentence.
  • I Lied: In order to get Scratch to come to the nursing home to volunteer, Molly lies to him and says they're going to the National Taco Convention. Scratch is angry at the deception.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: When Molly asks Scratch if he stole a large sack full of money, he indignantly denies it. When he opens the bag, he's hit in the face by an exploding pink dye pack.
  • Invisible to Normals: When the senior citizens come to help Molly rebuild the bandshell, Molly rubs it in Scratch's face with her "Told Ya" dance. To the senior citizens, who can't see Scratch, it looks likes Molly is dancing nonsensically.
  • Now What?: After the mayor congratulates Molly on building the new bandshell, he asks who will be the first to perform in it. This leaves Molly at a loss for words, as she never considered getting an act to inaugurate the bandshell.
  • Only One Name: When Scratch points out he’s not a McGee, Sharon asks him what his last name actually is; however, it turns out he doesn’t have one.
    Scratch: I’m a one-name icon, baby!
  • Pineapple Ruins Pizza: Inverted. Scratch specifically asks for pizza with pineapple on it.
  • Shout-Out: Molly begins her presentation with "The future! What will it hold? For it is where we will spend the rest of our lives", a paraphrasing of the opening monologue for Plan 9 from Outer Space.
  • Tears of Joy: Pete gets teary-eyed when he sees his kids “participating in local politics” and says he’s never been more proud.
