Recap / The Boondocks - S2 E15: "The Uncle Ruckus Reality Show"

Go To

"The Uncle Ruckus Reality Show" is the 15th and finale episode of Season 2 of The Boondocks.

Tropes

  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: Uncle Ruckus figures that the only way he can make money as a black man is by "rapping, or selling crack, or rapping about selling crack."
  • Continuity Nod: Uncle Ruckus denying his bus services to Huey and Riley, then trying to kill them with misdirecting traffic could be revenge for when they shot him with rubber bullets back in "Home Alone".
  • Disappointing Heritage Reveal: Uncle Ruckus excepts his DNA test to prove that he's white. The test instead shows that he's 102% African (with a 2% margin of error). The revelation sends him into a deep depression.
  • Driven to Suicide: Uncle Ruckus when he accepts the fact he is 100% African.
  • Fun with Acronyms: BET is revealed by Mistress Levil to stand for "Black Evil Television".
  • Get Out!: Uncle Ruckus only accepts white children onto his school bus and tells this trope to any black kids in the neighborhood wanting to board (which only amounts to 2, Huey and Riley).
  • Hypocritical Humor: Uncle Ruckus, who is really fat himself, tells Huey and Riley to just walk to school and "get their lazy asses some exercise" after booting them off his bus. Ruckus also complains that blacks are violent, though he later on tried killing Huey and Riley with misdirected traffic.
  • Kick Them While They're Down: Huey and Riley get forced to walk to school, and as they storm off, Uncle Ruckus mocks them and suggest they should drop out of school, grow up to be rappers, get into a fight and shoot each other.
  • Kids Are Cruel: The (predominantly Caucasian) school where Uncle Ruckus is a janitor shows the kids attending there are incredibly hostile towards Ruckus and squirting water guns in class with the teacher miserably failing to control them. One kid even throws a chair at a classroom TV, and off-screen the chair most likely crashed into the TV making it fall down to the floor.
  • Mythology Gag: Some of Ruckus’ scenes at his jobs are adapted from strips featuring him.
  • Villainous BSoD: Uncle Ruckus has a long, drawn-out one after he realizes he is black.
  • Where da White Women At?: Ruckus of course, as he calls a white female student (Miss Madison) to board his bus "my little sunshine". Later on, after discovering his DNA test he tries to get into sexual fetishization of black women but he finds it so appalling he flips out and sobs.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Uncle Ruckus during his crossing guard shift tries killing off Huey and Riley by misdirecting incoming traffic into their direction. But then again, these are the same kids who shot and assaulted him with rubber bullets back in "Home Alone", so they should've seen it coming.
  • You Are Fat: Uncle Ruckus gets one from Billy, a white boy who get onboard his bus, when Ruckus tried greeting him.
Uncle Ruckus: Hey there, Mr. Billy! Good morning!
Billy: (at the same time) Move out my way, fat boy!
