  • And There Was Much Rejoicing: Roman scrolls through twitter and sees a lot of happy memes about the news of his dad dying.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: While they act like rich idiots wanting a better hospital and get distracted by business, Kendall cries on the phone to Rava about his dad being in the hospital, Roman tells Greg to get one of Logan’s sweaters, Connor looks after his regressed younger siblings, and Tom proposes to Shiv and they have a spinny hug.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Kendall gets his CEO wish, but there's three billion in debt and the bank sees him as a child.
  • Damned by Faint Praise: The best that Shiv can say about Gerri is that she doesn't love her, but doesn't hate her either.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Gerri's first episode, and while she spins things in a nice and friendly way, her main concern is business.
  • Facial Dialogue: Colin guides the family to an area where they can wait, and Kendall is already anxious around him.
  • Foreshadowing: Frank tells Kendall that Logan left a lot of mess to be cleaned up, and Kendall finds out later that Logan took out a loan leaving them three billion debt.
  • Funny Background Event: During Shiv and Roman's Wimp Fight, Tom walks in, sees what's going on, and immediately turns around and walks right back out without a word.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Frank references Prufrock, that he’s just here to swell a scene or two.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Money!: While none of them are thinking clearly, the Roy children all whine that the hospital must not know who Logan is and aren’t giving him better care.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Tom accidentally walks in on Shiv and Roman's fight in the auditorium, and promptly leaves as quickly as he came in before they notice him.
  • The Thing That Would Not Leave: Marcia's somewhat justified view of Greg pretending to be nice so he can get a job confirmed, wanting an excuse to make him leave.
  • Wimp Fight: Roman and Shiv end up duking it out after rising tensions between them, though it's clear that neither of them have any sort of fighting experience. They result to petty slapping and pinning each other against the wall, which only highlights how pathetic both siblings are.
