Star befriends Mina Loveberry, an eccentric warrior woman from Mewni on a forced vacation to Earth.

Trope:

  • Artistic License – Paleontology: The guide says that mammoths may or may not have been roaming the area nineteen million years ago. Mammoths first appeared only six million years ago.
  • Bait-and-Switch: The episode starts out implying that Star is mistaken and "Mina" is just a deranged hobo. Then Mina gets mad and Hulks Out.
  • Bigger on the Inside: It turns out Mina can access some colorful, magical landscape from the dumpster in which she lives.
  • Black Comedy Burst: The tour guide who sinks into the mud pit isn't shown coming back out.
  • Blood Knight: Mina is bloodthirsty enough to plot to conquer Earth out of sheer boredom.
  • Broken Pedestal: At the beginning of the episode, Star deems Mina Loveberry the greatest warrior to ever live. She turns out to be just as crazy as Marco said she was. Star admits this as well by the end of the episode, calling her "a lady with no marbles".
  • Cassandra Truth: A pair of police officers don't believe Marco when he claims that Star and Mina caused all the damage to the park. Then they hear Mina demanding the citizens of Earth bow down to her.
  • Cloud Cuckoolander: Mina is even crazier than Star, which is saying something.
  • Continuity Nod: One of the people at the park is the long-haired businessman from "Fetch".
  • Decided by One Vote: When Mina demands to be declared ruler of Earth, the others insist on voting on it. The vote is actually tied, as some of the people there seem to think Mina as ruler would be cool. Star gets the deciding vote, and when she votes against it, Mina is devastated.
  • Dissimile: "It's just like arts and crafts, but with weapons."
  • Don't Think, Feel: Mina's first lesson in being a warrior is "Just stop thinking".
  • Dumpster Dive: Every day, Star waits inside the dumpster behind the donut shop to get the old donuts. Mina appears to be living in the dumpster next door, or at least using it as a portal.
  • Eccentric Mentor: Star sees Mina as this at first, while it's obvious to the viewers and Marco from the start that she's just nuts.
  • Hulking Out: Mina does this when Star starts to question her hero worship.
  • I Call It "Vera": Star makes a crude flail from a discarded shoelace and a pine-cone with a face drawn on which, which she calls "Davey".
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Mina gives up on conquering the Earth when Star refuses to be "mud sisters" anymore, and retreats to her dumpster lair.
  • Shout-Out: Some of the tourists at the Mud Pits resemble ones seen as background characters in Gravity Falls.
    • Mina has a hairstyle similar to Sailor Moon and wears earrings somewhat similar to the kind she usually wears, too. She's also introduced with a very Magical Girl-like animation and pose. That's pretty much where the similarities end, however.
  • Take Me to Your Leader: Mina asks the people at the park who their leader is, and they respond that they elect their leaders and have full freedom. Mina finds this ridiculous and decides to make herself their new leader.
  • Take Over the World: Mina announces her intention to do this after failing to grasp the concept of American democracy.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: Mina gets Star to cause all sorts of havoc in the name of teaching her how to be a better warrior.
