Plankton becomes a ghost to steal the secret formula, but requires a few lessons from the Flying Dutchman.

"The Ghost of Plankton" contains examples of:

  • Attending Your Own Funeral: When Plankton returns to the Chum Bucket, he finds a funeral being held for him.
    Plankton: This is the worst funeral of mine I've ever been to.
  • Bedsheet Ghost: At the beginning of the episode, Plankton gets wrapped up in a blanket and pretends to be a ghost.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Plankton does this when he learns that he can't pick things up as a ghost.
  • Circling Birdies: After Squidward gets knocked out, there are circling clarinets above his head.
  • Continuity Nod: The Dutchman shapeshifting into Pearl to scare Plankton is a reference to "One Coarse Meal".
  • Did Not Think This Through: Lampshaded by the Flying Dutchman when Plankton learns that while he can now pick up solid objects, he can't phase them through walls.
  • Exorcist Head: The Flying Dutchman does this during The End card.
  • Idea Bulb: Plankton has one when he gets the idea to become a ghost.
  • Inelegant Blubbering: SpongeBob sobs hysterically as he tries to give a eulogy at Plankton's funeral
  • Running Gag: The Flying Dutchman hitting Plankton every time they go to a new lesson.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: After taking ghost lessons from the Flying Dutchman and learning how to pick things up, Plankton discovers that while he can pick up the bottle containing the formula, he can't phase it out of the safe.
  • Tears of Joy: The Dutchman does this when Plankton shapeshifts into a mallet and hits him on the head.
  • Title Drop: Done at the beginning when Plankton pretends to be a ghost.
    Plankton: I'm the ghost of Plankton! Wooo!
  • The End: The episode ends on one, along with a Jump Scare by the Flying Dutchman.
  • Villain Episode: An episode that focuses mostly on Plankton and the Flying Dutchman.

Mr. Krabs gets ready for a hot date, but SpongeBob and Patrick give him a little more help than he needs.

"My Two Krabses" contains examples of:

  • Birthday Suit Surprise Party: When the naked Mr. Krabs makes it back home, it turns out Pearl is having a slumber party with her cheerleader friends.
  • Burning with Anger: Mr. Krabs when he sees Mrs. Puff on a date with Chum Krabs.
  • Continuity Nod: One of the outfits Mr. Krabs pulls from his closet is his Kuddly Krab uniform from "Bossy Boots".
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Mr. Krabs fights Chum Krabs for Mrs. Puff.
  • Did Not Think This Through: Mr. Krabs decides to save the ice cream sandwich for later. But rather than put it in the freezer or somewhere cold, he just leaves it on top of his shell where it of course melts.
  • The Dog Bites Back: After Mr. Krabs steals his lunch, Squidward doesn't stop SpongeBob and Patrick from going into his office and plays along when they think Mr. Krabs has melted out of his shell. Later he mocks Mr. Krabs for having to wear his old prom tux.
  • Hypocrite: Mr. Krabs takes away Squidward's bagged lunch, claiming that no outside food is allowed in the restaurant. But once he's in his office, Mr. Krabs goes through the bag and eats the ice cream sandwich that's in it.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Patrick calls the Chum Krabs dumb, while making the same dumb face as him.
  • I'm Melting!: Mr. Krabs says this jokingly while he's having a good time in his tanning bed. SpongeBob hears this and thinks Mr. Krabs is in danger.
  • Iris Out: The episode ends on one.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Mr. Krabs gets his shell stolen by SpongeBob after the former steals Squidward's lunch, leaving him without a shell for most of the episode.
  • Lightning Can Do Anything: SpongeBob brings the Chum Krabs to life by zapping him with static electricity.
  • Naked People Are Funny: Mr. Krabs takes off his shell before using a tanning bed, leaving him naked. When his shell is gone, he has to sneak back home, still naked.
  • Naked People Trapped Outside: With his shell gone, Mr. Krabs has to sneak back home without anyone seeing him.
  • Never Say "Die": When he thinks Mr. Krabs has melted, SpongeBob is telling Squidward how Mr. Krabs is dead, but starts bawling when he starts to say the word "dead".
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The title is a reference to My Two Dads.
  • Rejected Apology: When SpongeBob realizes the "imposter" is the real Mr. Krabs, he apologizes to Mr. Krabs and tries to explain the situation, but Mr. Krabs still seems annoyed.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: A small one, but Plankton gets to make an honest chum sale.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: SpongeBob, who took Mr. Krabs' shell after thinking he was dead. Because of this, Mr. Krabs does not have his shell back until the end of the episode and his date with Mrs. Puff is ruined.
