- Back from the Dead: On the day of Hyakki Yakounote , the Ninningers must deal with a horde of 100 resurrected Yōkai. These are Kamaitachi, Kappa, Tsuchigumo, 58 Jukkarage, 24 Dorodoros, 15 Magerappas and a Gashadokuro.
- Finishing Move: Aka Ninger and Star Ninger each get a Ishouisshi Nin Shuriken which enables their Clothes Change finishers, the Great Splendid Ninja Violent Slashnote and Dynamic Western Rockstar.
- In the Name of the Moon: The revived Yokai have their own roll call, riffing on the Ninningers' "We are the Shinobi who don't hide!"All: Hyakki-Hyakki-Hyakki Yakou!Kamaitachi: It may be day, but we won't flinch! Let's go!All: Hyakki Yakou!
- Mooks: In addition to the Jukkarage of Ninninger, this special also features the mooks from the previous two Ninja Sentai series, the Dorodoros of ''Kakuranger'' and the Magerappas of ''Hurricaneger''.
- Mythology Gag: Inexplicably, Aka Ninger and Star Ninger respectively wield Ninja Red's Kakuremaru and Shurikenger's Shuriken Bat to defeat the Dorodoros and Magerappas.
- Shout-Out: Tsuchigumo references the Toei Spider-Man series by calling himself the "Ninninger Killer Tsuchigumo" similar to how Spider-Man calls himself the "Iron Cross Killer Spider-Man".
- When the Yokai first appear, they dance. One of the movements they do during the dance is the "Claw" hand movements from Micheal Jackson's Thriller.
- Super Mode: The Koromogae Shuriken transforms Aka Ninger and Star Ninger into special Clothes Change forms, with ninja and cowboy costumes over their respective Ranger suits. These forms are strong enough to destroy a Giant Mook without the use of Humongous Mecha.
