After receiving a note from Bow saying he's fine and not to follow him, Glimmer and Adora decide he's in danger and follow him into the woods, where he turns out to be visiting with his fathers — who don't know he's a Rebellion fighter and think he's away at boarding school. Glimmer and Adora try to play along while also looking for information on the mysterious Serenia. Meanwhile, Catra panics over her loss of Shadow Weaver and tries to find her.

Tropes:

  • Accent Upon The Wrong Syllable: As part of her efforts to "sound" like an academic, Adora spends most of her interactions with George and Lance putting emphasis on the wrong parts of words. She gets so into it that that even says "For the honor of Greyskull ".
  • Actually Pretty Funny: When Lance and George find out that Adora is fluent in the First Ones' written language, George has her read the tattoo on his arm. When she says it reads "lunch", Lance descends into hysterical laughter, and an annoyed George says he thought it read "love".
  • Bait-and-Switch Comment: Scorpia makes a serious face, grabs a blanket, and tells Catra she's about to do something she doesn't want to but has no choice. She wraps Catra in the blanket and cuddles her. It does work in making Catra tell Scorpia Shadow Weaver escaped.
  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: Adora's "majors" end up including art, history, and art history.
  • Breather Episode: Except for the last few moments, "Reunion" is a lighthearted episode focused on Bow and his fathers. This will be the last lighthearted episode before a major arc that ends with the following season's finale.
  • Call-Back:
    • Lance jokes that when Bow first mentioned Glimmer in his letters, they thought he was making her up, in exact opposition to the joke Casta made in season one.
    • Once again, Imp warns Hordak that someone in the Horde is hiding secrets from him. Shadow Weaver back in Season 1 and now Catra.
    • Lance declares his realization that he and George thought they were being supportive when, in fact, they were being horrible, mirroring his son's realization in "Flowers for She-Ra" when his and Glimmer's talking up She-Ra caused more harm than help.
  • Cliffhanger: Shadow Weaver has come for Adora, and Catra is slowly suffocating into unconsciousness.
  • Clue, Evidence, and a Smoking Gun: Adora can track Bow by the broken twigs, sap on the trees...and the extremely obvious footprints from his distinctive boots.
  • Comical Overreacting: Glimmer's reaction to seeing Bow with his midriff covered is to act he like he has been horrifically mutilated.
Glimmer: (Gasp!) What have they done to you?! (begins crying)
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Bow admitting to his family that he's actually a fighter after hiding it from them for years due to fear of rejection hits all the beats of a Coming-Out Story. Ironically, he's admitting the truth to his gay dads.
  • Future Imperfect: Bow's dads know the basics about She-Ra, but only from imperfectly translated First Ones artifacts. As a result, they think she fought "for the power of Greyskull", and that her name might be better translated as Her-Ra. She really did used to ride a dragon, though, much to Adora's envy.
  • Get Out!: When she tries to comfort her, Catra angrily tells Scorpia "Get out!".
  • Hostile Terraforming: Apparently, Hordak's biology requires an atmosphere not compatible with Etherian life. He uses the machine that modifies it for him as a torture device for Catra when she doesn't admit the truth about Shadow Weaver's escape.
  • Jock Dad, Nerd Son: Inverted. Bow hides the fact that he is a soldier from his historian dads due to George's bad experiences in the first Princess Rebellions leaving him embittered towards the Princesses and fighting.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: Bow has twelve of them, all older than he.
  • Meaningful Echo: Hordak invokes this when he summons Catra to his sanctum in order to "touch base," as she put it, when she visited him a few episodes prior.
  • Mood Whiplash: Most of the episode is about Adora and Glimmer meeting Bow's family, but the last few scenes take a darker turn.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • George's sweater and moustache are very reminiscent of Bow's design from the original series.
    • Their mistranslation of the transformation phrase as “For the power of Greyskull” also calls back to He-Man’s phrase, which is “By the power of Greyskull”.
    • An older She-Ra riding a dragon, which makes Adora jealous. When Filmation made He-Man and She-Ra, they were using the same playbook as their earlier Blackstar, about a barbarian hero who flew around an alien planet on a dragon.
  • Oh, Crap!: After Catra lies about Shadow Weaver's status to Hordak, Imp immediately comes out and exposes her lies, leaving her horrified.
  • Pillow Pistol: Adora sleeps with a dagger somewhere close enough that she can pull it out before she's even fully awake.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: Played for Laughs a couple times. For instance, while begging Adora and Glimmer to go along with his ruse, Bow makes wide and tearful-looking to convince them.
  • Running Gag: Adora trying to talk fancy with Accent Upon The Wrong Syllable.
  • Secret Test of Character: Hordak already knew Shadow Weaver had escaped, but he chose to question Catra about it, seeing if she'd come clean. She didn't, so he cuts the atmosphere while she's still inside.
  • Stalker Shot: After Catra reveals to Scorpia that Shadow Weaver escaped and she has to find her before Hordak learns the truth, Scorpia tells her they'll find her together and they'll keep it a secret, until the camera cuts to inside an air vent where Imp was watching them the entire time. He promptly leaves to report to Hordak.
  • You Are Not Alone: Scorpia tells Catra this when the latter admits Shadow Weaver escaped and that she's therefore in massive trouble.
  • You Have Failed Me: Catra is rightfully terrified of what Hordak will do to her if he finds out she lost Shadow Weaver. In a twist of cruel irony, he was going to go easy on her if she confessed, but she didn't.

Adora

To keep up the illusion that she's a student at the Academy of Historic Enterprises, Adora mispronounces words thinking it makes her sound smarter.

How well does it match the trope?
