“Wow! My dream of becoming super famous has finally come true! Sort of. The truth is the enemy is using my identity to lure in Tuxedo Mask so they can steal his Rainbow Crystals. Tuxedo Mask look out! That does it! Time for the real Sailor Moon to take action! In the Name of the Moon, I'll punish you!”
Usagi Tsukino

(DiC Episode: "Sailor V Makes The Scene")

The Sailor Guardians and Tuxedo Mask are led into a dangerous trap when they find that someone has been impersonating Sailor Moon. Though fortune is on their side as the last Pretty Guardian makes her glorious debut.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Barely-Changed Dub Name: Minako's name is shortened to "Mina'' in the DiC episode. Mina was already her shorthand nickname, however.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Sailor Venus does this twice. The first is using "Crescent Beam" to attack Zoisite who was close to killing Tuxedo Mask. The second is when she fires her beam at Kunzite which destroys his barrier and saves her fellow Guardians.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: Usagi rallies her friends to transform so they can save her imposter insisting that she can't stand by and let an innocent person be hurt by the forces of evil.
  • Cliffhanger: The last scene has Sailor Moon asking Sailor Venus if she's the Moon Princess.
  • Continuity Nod: Zoisite shows Queen Beryl scenes from Nephrite's final fight to explain his newest plan against Tuxedo Mask.
  • Dark Is Evil: Kunzite holds nothing but disgust towards light while considering darkness itself to be beautiful.
  • Death Trap: Kunzite creates a darkness infused energy field that can neutralize the attacks of the Sailor Guardians and shrinks in size to deliver immense pain to his captives.
  • Divide and Conquer: Knowing how troublesome the Guardians and Tuxedo Mask can be when they work together, Kunzite volunteers to handle the Pretty Soldiers while Zoisite takes care of the Gentleman Hero himself.
  • Double-Meaning Title: "Sailor V Makes The Scene" could either mean one of two things: Sailor Venus making her timely appearance, or the episode hinting at Sailor V, Minako's original hero persona.
  • Dub Name Change:
    • Minako's name is "Mina" in the DIC version. Which ironically was her shorthand nickname in the original version.
    • Sailor Venus' signature move "Crescent Beam" is "(Venus) Crescent Beam Smash" in the DIC episode.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Minako and Artemis make silent cameos in the same street where Usagi cried over being a victim of identity theft.
  • Early Instalment Weirdness: In the DIC dub, Artemis speaks with what seems to be a southern accent for this episode. Starting from the next, he’d default to the actor’s natural voice.
  • Engineered Heroics: Zoisite disguises himself as Sailor Moon in order to lure Tuxedo Mask, and the Sailor Guardians, into a trap made by Kunzite. He even goes as far as to rig a construction scaffolding to fall so he can save the workers and impress the public.
  • Evil Knockoff: The fake Sailor Moon uses blue and purple for their color scheme instead of blue and red. They also use an actual boomerang to fight instead of a tiara.
  • Foreshadowing: Queen Beryl reacts in total surprise when she sees Tuxedo Mask's civilian form and orders her cronies to return so they enact her newest plan.
  • Godzilla Threshold: With Zoisite being at his last chance to stay in Queen Beryl's good graces, Kunzite immediately volunteers himself to help him with his newest plan to defeat the heroes.
  • Hostage Situation: Zoisite tries to salvage his situation by using the trapped Guardians in exchange for Tuxedo Mask's Rainbow Crystals.
  • Implied Death Threat: Queen Beryl warns Zoisite that his newest plan to steal the rest of the Rainbow Crystals is his last chance to prove himself.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Kunzite introduces himself to the girls as one of the Four Kings of Heaven.
    • Artemis confirms that Sailor Venus was the vigilante in a pretty sailor uniform: Sailor V.
  • Mythology Gag: The DIC episode name "Sailor V Makes the Scene" not only refers to Sailor Venus who makes her debut in this episode, but it also alludes to Codename: Sailor V, the series' predecessor, and Minako's original identity. Even though at the time, it was relatively unknown in America in 1995.
    • Sailor Moon asking if Sailor Venus could be the Moon Princess. In the original manga, Sailor V actively posed as the princess to protect the identity of the real princess Usagi.
  • Near-Villain Victory: With the Sailor Guardians trapped in a dark barrier and suffocating along with Tuxedo Mask being willing to surrender his crystals, Kunzite and Zoisite would have gotten away victorious if it wasn't for the arrival of the fifth Guardian.
  • Now, Let Me Carry You: Zoisite immediately steps up to protect Kunzite as an act of gratitude for all he's done for him.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • During her Early-Bird Cameo, Minako is stunned over seeing Usagi on the street after just watching "Sailor Moon" rush off. It's a clue to viewers that she already knows a great deal about the team.
    • Queen Beryl when she sees Tuxedo Mask's true face.
    • Usagi over their rescuer being none other than Sailor V.
  • Sadistic Choice: With four Sailor Guardians stuck in a Death Trap, Zoisite demands Tuxedo Mask surrender and hand over his Rainbow Crystals or else. Tuxedo Mask was in the process of surrendering when Sailor Venus reappeared.
  • Skewed Priorities: Usagi cries when she learns that there's a fake Sailor Moon who's using her image to win the public's adoration. She even intends to sue her for copyright infringement.
  • Spot the Imposter: The girls instantly knew that the Sailor Moon who saved the bank was a fake since the real Usagi could never do something so cool and death-defying on her own.
  • This Cannot Be!: Queen Beryl gets this reaction when she sees Tuxedo Mask unmasked.
  • The Unmasking:
    • Tuxedo Mask loses his mask while fighting Zoisite.
    • Sailor Venus takes off her Sailor V mask when making her new debut.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Queen Beryl orders Zoisite and Kunzite to leave the Sailor Guardians as she has a new operation in mind.
  • Villain Opening Scene: The first scene has Zoisite explaining how Tuxedo Mask shows up like clockwork everytime Sailor Moon is in danger. So he comes up with a plan to lure him by making him think she's in danger.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Zoisite loses his temper when Sailor Venus interferes and helps Tuxedo Mask escape his clutches.
  • Villainous Crossdresser: Zoisite dresses up as Sailor Moon to get the attention of the girls and Tuxedo Mask.
  • Villainous Rescue: The workers and customers of the Tozai Bank were very lucky that Zoisite appeared to apprehend the bank robbers while disguised as Sailor Moon.
  • The Walls Are Closing In: The dark barrier begins to shrink and suffocate the Guardians trapped inside.
  • We Will Meet Again: After being ordered to retreat, Kunzite promises the Guardians that this isn't over.
  • Wham Episode: Sailor Venus makes her official debut and is instantly welcomed into the team.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Zoisite, disguised as Sailor Moon, is strung up by an industrial crane so Tuxedo Mask will try to save him. This ruse even leads the Sailor Guardians into Kunzite's trap.
