Recap / SM G4s Mario Bloopers Shes Back

Go To

After having quite the eventful vacation, Meggy finally returns to the Mushroom Kingdom for a long-awaited reunion with her friends. Now that she's happier than ever before, she's ready to share the life-changing revelations she's had about herself while she was away—but first, she has to catch up on all the crazy adventures she missed out on.

  • Art Evolution: Subtly done: this episode formally introduces an updated GMOD model for Meggy developed by YouTuber John10v10 with sharpened textures, revamped eyes and mouth, and more nuanced facial expressions.
  • Backing Away Slowly: Meggy after hearing SMG4's err... recap of the Genesis Arc, before just turning around and running away screaming.
  • Big Damn Heroes: After Spider-Man pushes Mario down a building, Meggy uses her newfound purpose to help people to her advantage to save Mario from falling to his death.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Meggy's reaction when she finds out that Mario and Bob turned her house into a Bed and Breakfast.
  • The Bus Came Back: As the title indicates, this episode marks Meggy's return to the main SMG4 series and cast after her partial absence during the events of Sunset Paradise.
  • Call-Back:
    • The episode deals with Meggy learning about what happened in the episodes where she was gone, so naturally there are more than a few:
      • Meggy finds out that Mario and Bob turned her house into a deluxe hotel in "Mario's Bed and Breakfast". They also forgot to feed her cat, but she doesn't seem to notice.
      • Tari started taking Spanish lessons from Swag after their traumatic visit to the dentist led them to flee to Mexico in "Mario Goes to the Dentist".
      • Shroomy is still alienated from Uncle Doomguy after the events of "Mario and the Village", but has since gotten over it. Also, Lady Dimitrescu has since divorced him and kicked him out of the house for accidentally streaming pornography on their family TV.
      • SMG4's Sanity Slippage from "SMG4 Goes Insane" hasn't totally abated, as he's built a creepy religious shrine in the castle basement. He also tries retelling the events of the Genesis Arc to Meggy (even reading directly from the SMG4 Wiki), who gets scared away.
      • Axol started taking Melony to IKEA to try out new beds since "The Bed".
      • Saiko...has been doing nothing but practicing guitar and eating fried chicken, as she does in most of her appearances due to being pushed Out of Focus and her Flanderization.
    • Meggy gets a call-back herself from Sunset Paradise when she is saving Mario from falling to his death with the same theme from when she was fighting the Spud Buds for the first time.
  • Couch Gag: The last episode to use the one that has been used since "Mario Gets His PINGAS Stuck In The Door." Later videos use a simpler intro that only has Mario say "That's-a so nice!" with few dark exceptions.
  • Daywalking Vampire: Not only is Lady Dimitrescu once again fine in broad daylight, but in this blooper, so are her daughters.
  • Filler: The Genesis Arc only gets a mention when SMG4 attempts to, err… recap it to Meggy, much to her horror.
  • Foreshadowing: Meggy notices a locked door with a Do Not Enter sign on it that Saiko tells her to stay away from. It's not touched on again for several more episodes.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Downplayed, maybe? When Axol explains to Meggy that he doesn't think he's good enough to date Melony, Meggy tries to encourage him by telling him how brave and strong he was only for Axol to instantly freak out when Melony causes the rocket bed, she was on to fly away, causing him to complain about how he didn't pay for it yet.
  • Irony: A meta example: Luigi was supposed to have his own clip, but it was left out by accident. Said clip shows Luigi realizing that he wasn't invited to any of his friends' adventures, causing him to cry.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: The episode makes it no mystery what happens at the end of Sunset Paradise: Meggy comes back from her crazy vacation as a hero who saved the island, and she's finally discovered that her path to true happiness is in living to help others.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: SMG4 reads the first few lines of the wiki page for the Genesis Arc.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Mario and Bob when they realize that they have to explain that they had turned Meggy's house into a hotel.
    • Mario has another one when he learns what Meggy decided to become: a sports teacher.
  • The Reveal: After three years, we finally see where Saiko lives.
  • Shipper on Deck: Meggy asks Axol if he and Melony are a couple, and tries giving him a pep talk when he expresses his concerns that he's not good enough for her.
  • Stealth Pun: SMG4 tries to summarize the plot of the Genesis Arc to Meggy using a book containing the Genesis Arc wiki page inside of an underground church. In other words, he's reading the book of Genesis.
