Recap / SM G4s Mario Bloopers If Mario Was In Anime

Mario goes to the weeb side

Axol has just been stripped of his title of "best anime artist", and with Inkweaver still broken, he's in a deep creative rut. But that's about to change, as having installed an anime-seeking device on the half of Inkweaver he still has, he sends Mario on a journey throughout anime to find the other half.

  • Airplane Arms: The Naruto segment begins with a shot of a crowd doing Naruto-running en mass.
  • Amusing Injuries: Mario gets an entire wheelbarrow of rejected anime drawing stuck in his eye and is only mildy annoyed by it.
  • Blind Mistake: As Avatar Mario accidentally summons a tidal wave Toph is seen running towards the wave instead of away from it.
  • The Call Knows Where You Live: Mario attempts to just walk out of the adventure, but Inkweaver comes straight for him and drags him to anime.
  • Character Derailment: In-Universe. Mario points out that ever since Inkweaver broke, Axol hasn't drawn any anime and just fawns over Melony, which marks the first acknowledgment of Axol's character roots as a world-famous artist since his introduction, and gives him the incentive to undergo Character Rerailment.
  • Critical Dissonance: In-Universe. Axol's live fruit puppet anime Two Piece was a hit with audiences (those that could tolerate anime, anyway) but poison with critics, which drives him to repair Inkweaver.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Mario connects Axol losing his title as the world's best anime artist to not drawing anime recently and simping Melony.
  • Exact Words:
    • As per the original Japanese definition of the word, anime refers to all animation, not just those made in Japan. Ergo, Mario is able to end up in The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron and Avatar: The Last Airbender.
    • One of the animes that are parodied in the video is called Bleach. It has nothing to do with the actual anime and instead shows Mario drinking bleach, killing him.
    • Mario being the Avatar gives him elemental powers.
  • Filler: Has no real connection to the Genesis Arc, although Axol’s relaunched manga career will end up helping to set up a plot point of the arc’s climax.
  • Final Boss: SMG3 is the last obstacle for Mario to face in his anime adventure, using the last piece of Inkweaver as a doorstop in the Internet Graveyard's Starbucks. Mario was able to outwit him pretty quick, though.
  • Grail in the Garbage: The tip of Inkweaver, an artifact of great power that can create life from ink, was being used by SMG3 as a doorstop to the Internet Graveyard's Starbucks.
  • Old Shame: In-Universe. After the critics rate Two-Piece a score of 2/10, Axol became greatly ashamed of it.
  • Running Gag: Everyone dancing to Last Surprise
  • Shout-Out: Aside from the Jimmy Neutron segment being a clear Yu-Gi-Oh! parody, Hugh Neutron is possibly meant to represent Pegasus J. Crawford, with Hugh flashing the blue eye of Sans akin to the Millenium Eye when it's active, refers to Mario in a specific manner, aka "Jimbo", and does a lengthy psychological monologue, during which the opponent (Mario) is shown growing more and more annoyed, eventually leading to a Shut Up, Hannibal!
  • Throw the Dog a Bone:
    • While he's stuck in a car with Toadette screaming in his ear, Toad prays to God for deliverance. Cue Axol chucking Apple-chan from his window and knocking Toadette out of the car.
    • Luigi is spared from Mario's Death Note rampage because Mario can't spell his name properly.
    • Most importantly, Axol finally gets his ability to initiate life into his art back after a good year without it.
  • Too Dumb to Live:
    • In the Bleach segment, Mario drinks bleach and promptly flatlines.
    • After being insulted by the Captain Lou version of Mario on TV, Mario promptly writes his own name in the Death Note and dies of a heart attack.
  • Wham Episode: Axol finally gets his Inkweaver—and his ability to bring his art to life—back… though it will end up being short-lived. He also apparently found a place he can call home in New Donk City after his apparent house-hunting arc in "A Day In The Life Of Everyone".
