Recap / Rick And The Loud House Chapter 33 The Man With The Plan

Go To

As Rick, Lincoln, and Lori continue to look for Lynn, we see what's going on in the newly rebuilt Citadel of Ricks.

Rick & Morty episode: The Ricklantis Mixup

Loud House episode: N/A

  • Adaptational Jerkass: Officer Lori doesn't have any of the Pet the Dog moments with Rookie Rick that Officer Morty had in canon, remaining short and surly with him throughout their story.
  • All of the Other Reindeer:
    • Lynns as a whole are often looked down upon by Ricks for their trouble making behavior. It's because of this that they're adopted with other Loud siblings and never by themselves.
    • Lenis are similarly looked down upon as dumb airheads. Genius Leni got this treatment despite being much smarter than a typical Leni.
    • Officer Lori expresses this towards Lincolns, saying that they can't be trusted to run things without everything going to hell.
    • Inverted for Lisas, who seem to be handed high level jobs and positions because of their high intelligence. They also seem to skip school as 80's Lincoln notes that there are no Lisas in his classroom.
  • Alternate Self: We see quite a few alternate versions of the Loud Kids in this chapter. We have:
    • A Lincoln from a timeline set in the 1980's.
    • A Lynn from a near future timeline.
    • A smaller, younger Leni with super strength.
    • Lona, a fusion of a Lola and a Lana.
    • A Leni whose intelligence is almost as great as that of a Rick.
  • Asshole Victim: The Shadow Council Ricks like in canon, Officer Lori and nearly every single Lori in the bar club.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Candidate Lincoln (i.e. EVIL Lincoln) becomes President of the Citadel and overthrows the Shadow Council of Ricks, ready to go forward with his plans.
  • Boomerang Bigot: President Lincoln holds contempt for his own counterparts and believes them to be bad luck, just like most Lynns.
  • The Cameo: Tricksy, Lynn's character from "A Dark and Story Night", makes a cameo as one of a pair of Lynns who bully Lona and Proto Leni.
  • Crapsaccharine World: Like in canon, the story establishes how much of a corrupt and tyrannical hellhole the Citadel of Ricks is by showing the lives of the people most looked down upon; Lynns, Lincolns, Lenis, and to an extent, Loris.
    • Lincolntown is pretty much representative of the Citadel's callous treatment of such people.
  • Fantastic Racism: Just like Mortys in canon:
    • Lincolns are viewed by Officer Lori as idiots who can't be trusted with anything without ending up raising hell, by Lynns and President Lincoln for being "bad luck", and by Ricks as easily pushed-around punks. Officer Lori also calls them "twerps" just like how Ricks call Mortys "yellowshirts".
    • Lynns are looked down upon by Ricks and Officer Lori for their rowdy, raunchy demeanors and "bad luck" beliefs. Lit Lynn doesn't like being lumped with them.
    • Ditto with Lenis for their stupidity, much to Genius Leni's chagrin.
  • Fantastic Ghetto / Fantastic Caste System:
    • Very similar to canon, except this time, the characters are more diverse. Just like Mortys, Lincolns, Lynns, and Lenis, and sometimes other Loud siblings are treated like second-class citizens by Ricks and are taught to be submissive to them or are given menial-level jobs, such as factories, police force, and such, while Lisas are given professional-level jobs and high positions in the heirarchy simply for their near-Rick intelligence. Meanwhile, those too unruly (especially Lynns) or can't afford a Rick are dumped in Lincolntown. Other citizen Ricks don't fare any better either, such as Simple Rick.
    • Lincolntown, like Mortytown, is a hellish, corruptive Wretched Hive populated with people the Ricks treat like second-class citizens who can't handle them or can't be assigned to a Rick, such as the namesakes, some Loris, and especially Lynns for their unruly behaviour. The place is rife with reprobates and criminal scum, with most of them being Lynns and some Ricks. Heck, even some Lucys live there.
  • Four Lines, All Waiting: Like in canon, the episode splits into four separate subplots, all in the same setting;
    • Candidate Lincoln's rise to power as he plans to usurp the Citadel.
    • Genius Leni's attempts to escape the Citadel and defy the corruptive power of the Ricks.
    • 80s Lincoln, Lona, Proto Leni 1, and Lit Lynn's quest to find the Wishing Portal to get their wish of freedom from the Ricks' corruption.
    • Rookie Rick and Officer Lori going to Lincolntown to deal with criminal Lynns and enforce the law in the town.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Played with. Lit Lynn jumps into the garbage dump portal and seemingly dies. Fortunately for the alternate Loud sibling team, they get their wish of a Loud usurping Ricks and taking over the Citadel, but because an evil version of Lincoln seized power.
  • Kick the Dog: President Lincoln shows up in person to gloat at Campaign Manager Lincoln before sending him out the airlock.
  • Mythology Gag: The Proto Lenis are based on two of the alternate character designs for Leni that were made during The Loud House's development.
  • New Era Speech: President Lincoln gives one after overthrowing the Shadow Council of Ricks. Unlike Evil Morty, he doesn't even bother to lampshade it.
  • Out of Focus: Like in canon, our main Rick, Lori, and Lincoln go out on an adventure to find Lynn, but they aren't the focus of the chapter. Most of it goes to the Citadel.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Smug Snake: Like in canon, the Shadow Council thinks they still are in charge of the Citadel. They are proven wrong the moment President Lincoln orders all but two of the members assassinated on the spot.
  • Static Role, Exchangeable Character: Genius Leni replaces the Rick that becomes the new host of the Simple Rick wafer.
    • All of the Morty variants are replaced with a wide assortment of alternative Loud siblings.
  • Token Good Teammate: Lit Lynn seems to be the most decent and tolerable of all the Lynns, as she is very friendly with 80s Lincoln, and defends Lona and Proto Leni 1 from her counterparts, Tricksy and Werewolf Lynn. She also is described as no worse than a school dunce.
    • Ditto with Rookie Rick like in canon.
  • Underestimating Badassery: It didn't matter if it was a Rick, a Lincoln or even a Bobby, the Shadow Council thinks they can lord over President Lincoln as their Puppet King. They are instantly proven wrong. The two surviving members are then forced to kowtow to his authority.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Not even this story bothers to expand the characters of the Shadow Council beyond their first and only appearance.
