Rick & Morty episode: Morty's Mind Blowers

Loud House episode: The Loudest Thanksgiving

  • Accidental Murder:
    • Rick froze Flip for trapping his grandkids at the restaurant, but then he leans on him, causing his body to break apart, killing him.
    • Lincoln inadvertently crashes into and kills The Simpsons, but attempts to clone them with Rick's help. It doesn't work out too well.
  • Adaptational Context Change: Instead of a feud where the Louds and Casagrandes fight over which place they'll celebrate Thanksgiving with Lori and Bobby dealing with it, it's the Casagrande kids and Sergio tampering with Rick's Mind Blowers containing the Louds' bad memories, each more horrifying than the last.
    • A minor example with this chapter's retelling of "Snow Way Out", where because they are this time accompanied by Rick, the Loud siblings get an easy way out of the restaurant and Rick kills Flip by accident.
  • Adapted Out: Flip's role from "The Loudest Thanksgiving" is omitted from this chapter. In fact, it's in this chapter we learn why we haven't seen Flip at all in this story. Rick simply takes his place, as he is the one to provide the solution to the Louds and Casagrandes' feud.
  • Asshole Victim: One of the Mind Blowers reveals that Rick froze and (accidentally) kill Flip for trapping his grandkids at the Burping Burger because Lana wouldn't give him the winning Bobbie Fletcher wrapper (which she rightfully won and he was just gonna scalp). Even Bobby isn't all to concerned with this as he admits that Flip was a criminal and overall jerk.
  • Break the Cutie: The Casagrandes witness the horrific memories that were wiped out from the Louds, including the Cronenberg incident. Ronnie Anne doesn't react too well with having a theme park inside her body either.
    • Besides the Cronenberg event, the Loud siblings are horrified when Rick accidentally kills Flip.
    • Lincoln panics when he accidentally kills The Simpsons. To add insult to injury, the attempt at resurrecting them doesn't go well.
    • Lincoln becomes dazed beyond explanation when Rick becomes a full time "Imagine Balls" geek.
  • Character Check: The chapter reminds every audience the universal constant that Rick will always be Rick Sanchez, no matter what variant he is; he uses a memory wiper on the Casagrandes to keep them from snitching on Rick, thus protecting his dire secret.
  • Death by Adaptation: Flip is accidentally killed after Rick rests on his frozen body after shooting him with a freeze ray. This explains why he's not even here in the story at all. But agin, in a multiverse where infinite versions of characters exist, he may very well be replaced.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • Rick was disgusted that Flip would try to extort Lana out of her winning wrapper and then trapped her and her siblings at the Burpin' Burger out of spite.
    • Sergio was shocked upon discovering that Rick killed Flip.
  • Shout-Out: The chapter makes a reference to a bonus crossover that Adult Swim released that featured The Simpsons, where Morty accidentally kills the titular family and has to resurrect them. Only this time, Lincoln takes Morty's role.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: Annoyed with both families' scuffles, Rick angrily suggests they flip a coin to settle the feud. The coin lands in the Louds' favor. Rick later uses his portal gun so both families can celebrate Thanksgiving simultaneously without hassle.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: In order for his grandkids to suffer nightmares no longer, Rick erases all their bad memories and stores them within his Mind Blowers.
