I Feel the Earth Move

The gang experiences an earthquake.
  • Friendly Tickle Torture: Dr. Rafferty tickles Sean's belly at one point.
  • Growling Gut: Mindy's stomach rumbles due to hunger after seeing Dr. Rafferty's soup-and-crackers demonstration.
  • Series Continuity Error: In "Diggin' Earth," Jet and Mindy learn that magma is underneath the Earth's crust. They forget that fact in this episode, and have to learn it again.
  • Shout-Out:
    • "I Feel the Earth Move" is also the name of a Carole King song.
    • The Commander Cressida comic issue 446, "The Day the Earth Didn't Stand Still," is a reference to The Day The Earth Stood Still.
    • Sean imitates Michael Jackson's moonwalk dance while playing on the bounce house.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: This episode has a very strange subplot of Sunspot riding Mindy's bounce house all over town, causing the ground to shake.

Zerk Visits Earth

Jet's cousin Zerk pays a visit to Earth for the first time.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Going by production order, this is the first episode with Jet's affectionate nickname for Sean, "Sean-zo."
Jet: You know I am, Sean-zo.
  • Character Development: In this episode, Zerk's vain and speciesist attitude disappears completely, and he is polite towards his cousin and the Earthies. He comes to adore Earth after having made disparaging remarks about it in earlier episodes.
  • "Everybody Laughs" Ending: At the end of the episode, everyone laughs after Zerk leaves.
  • Exorcist Head: Zerk spins his head 360 degrees when he arrives on Earth and greets Sydney, Sean, and Mindy.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Despite Zerk being nicer to the Earthies, his hyperactive personality proves to be too much for them to handle. They breathe a collective sigh of relief when he leaves.
  • Inherently Funny Words: Zerk thinks "squirrel" and "Apple" are hilarious earth words.
  • Musicalis Interruptus: Sean starts to sing "Tiny Blue Dot," but is interrupted.
  • Orbital Shot: Used on Zerk when he looks at the view from the treehouse.
  • Pet the Dog: Zerk calls Jet a cool cousin and calls Sean, Sydney, and Mindy the best Earthies ever; a far cry from his previous interacts with them.
  • Reflective Eyes: Used when Zerk sees the Earth for the first time.
  • Rhetorical Request Blunder: Zerk asks Sunspot to pinch him at one point. He didn't mean it, but Sunspot pinches him anyway.
  • Ship Tease: As noted above, Jet gives Sean an Affectionate Nickname that will appear in later episodes.
  • Water Is Dry: Despite Zerk describing water as wet, he is completely dry after swimming in Little Dipper Lake.
