A Visit from Uncle Zucchini

Jet's uncle Zucchini and pet Moonbeam is coming to visit Earth for the first time. He gets lost and ends up on somewhere a bit similar to Earth — Titan, a moon of Saturn.
  • Ambiguous Syntax: When Jet reveals that Zucchini is his uncle's earth name, Mindy says she loves zucchini. Jet responds by saying he's a great guy, but Mindy actually meant the food zucchini.
  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: Zucchini pats Sydney's head when the gang gets to Titan.
  • Big Eater: Zucchini mentions that Moonbeam ate all of his dinner.
  • Bizarre Taste in Food: Carrot can't decide which Earth food he should cook, enchilada, sushi, or lasagna, so he decides to make "enchisushisagna."
  • Cartoon Creature: Lampshaded. Zucchini calls Moonbeam a "cat-dog-kangaroo-thingy".
  • Comically Missing the Point: Zucchini doesn't listen to Moonbeam when she tells him that Titan is not Earth. He just says that she’s getting good on the guitar.
  • Even the Dog Is Ashamed: Moonbeam is visibly annoyed at Zucchini's stupidity.
  • Face Palm: Moonbeam facepalms after Zucchini takes her answer as a "yes".
  • The Glomp: When the gang lands on Titan, Jet tackle-hugs Zucchini.
  • Let's Duet: Sunspot and Moonbeam play the guitar and concertina together.
  • Never Trust a Title: Zucchini never visits Earth.
  • Noodle Incident: Celery recalls an incident where Zucchini couldn’t find his saucer in the parking lot on Bortron 7.
  • Not Where They Thought: Zucchini thought he was on Earth, but he was actually on Titan.
  • Oh, Crap!: When the gang finds out that Zucchini is on Titan.
  • Romantic Spoonfeeding: Celery is briefly shown feeding enchisushisagna to Carrot.
  • Ship Tease:
    • Sunspot is pretty infatuated with Moonbeam. They even duet together. It is important to note that the closed captions on the episode call Sunspot's concertina music "romantic music".
    • Jet shows chivalry by giving Sydney a hand when they go into the saucer.
  • Split-Screen Phone Call: Used when the gang figures out that Zucchini is on Titan. Zucchini even physically grabs the split line.
  • What Could Possibly Go Wrong?: Jet says this phrase after assuring Mindy that Zucchini will find Earth. Sure enough, Zucchini never finds Earth.
  • "Yes"/"No" Answer Interpretation: When Zucchini asks Moonbeam if the "planet" up ahead is Earth, she says “no” by strumming a bad chord on her guitar. Zucchini takes that as a "yes".

Mindy's Weather Report

Mindy learns about a perpetual storm on Saturn. When she tells the others, Jet misinterprets this as a storm on Earth.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Mr. Peterson claims that living heavy objects builds character. Mitchell remarks that his character is big enough.
  • Company Cross References: Dinosaur Train, another Craig Bartlett series on PBS Kids, makes a cameo when Mindy is watching TV.
  • Does Not Like Spam: This episode reveals that Jet hates ice cream.
  • Idiot Ball: Jet is a huge idiot in this episode. Mindy tells the gang that a storm is on Saturn, and Jet believes that there's a storm in Boxwood Terrace, and tells all the neighbors (including the Petersons) to prepare, despite the number of times Sean, Sydney, and Mindy try to tell Jet that the storm is on Saturn. When the gang goes into space, they see the storm on Saturn and Jet says: "Why didn't you just say so?" with the other characters in annoyance.
  • Ironic Echo Cut: "What's the worst he'll do? Run out here with his floaties?" Sure enough, Jet runs outside with his duck floaty.
  • Misery Builds Character: Mr. Peterson tried to tell Mitchell that carrying heavy sandbags will help build character. Mitchell protests that his character is already big enough, so Mr. Peterson ends up carrying his sandbags for him.
  • No Listening Skills: Jet doesn't listen when the others try to tell him the truth about the storm.
  • Shout-Out: Sunspot watches a show called The Real Housepets of Borton 7.
  • Spoiled Brat: Mitchell whines that the sandbags are heavy and makes his dad carry them for him.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: The subplot of the episode is Mindy hosting her own weather report.
  • Tuckerization: Jet mentions a neighbor named Mrs. Purdy. This is a reference to Joe Purdy, one of the show's writers.
  • You Know What They Say: Mr. Peterson claims that 'they' say "Clear skies in the morning - hurricane warning".

Dinosaur Train in Ready Jet Go

In the episode "Mindy's Weather Report", Sunspot flips through the channels on Face 9000. One of the programs he flips to is Dinosaur Train, another PBS Kids show created by Craig Bartlett, complete with a second of the Dinosaur Train theme song playing.

How well does it match the trope?
