Recap / Power Rangers Ninja Steel S 01 E 17 The Adventures Of Redbot

Go To

  • An Aesop: "Telling fibs, even for fun, usually ends up getting you in trouble."
Redbot: Well, I may have embellished the story just a bit. You know, to make it more exciting.
Levi: To make yourself more heroic.
  • Based on a Great Big Lie: Redbot gets exposed as a fraud at the book signing.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Redbot saves a time stuck Mary from being hit by a train.
  • Big "WHAT?!":
    • Cat O'Clock when Redbot isn't frozen along with everyone else.
    • Galvanax's reaction to learning what Cosmo's blog is about.
  • Call-Back:
    • One of the audience members is Mary, who remembers when Levi's concert was attacked several episodes ago.
    • An example of Redbot's blog getting details wrong is the fight with Trapsaw, an episode he himself wasn't actually present for.
  • Chekhov's Gag: While tying Kody to a pole, Hayley quips he keeps chasing cats. Cat O'Clock later bumps into Kody at the school and freaks, especially when the dog gets loose.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: Cat O'Clock lets it slip that his chest is the source of his power, then realizes what he just said.
  • Flashback: Redbot's opening blog entry details the fight with Trapsaw, only to abruptly change to the Rangers stupidly forgetting their weapons and needing to be bailed out. Levin interjects and later details the scene as it actually happened.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Galvanax is tweaked over all the attention that Redbot's blog is getting.
  • Her Code Name Was "Mary Sue": Redbot writes about how he singlehandedly saved the Rangers from Trapsaw and the Kudabots. Victor does it when the concert attack is brought up and he and Monty saved Mary, Redbot and the Gold Ranger. At the end of the episode, Cosmo tries to do this about the Warrior Dome until Galvanax catches him.
  • Mythology Gag: As a Freeze-Frame Bonus, Cosmo's blog references silk from Eltar, Zordon's home planet.
  • Never Say "Die": This tradition results in a Power Rangers-ified version of a well-known idiom.
Hayley: Hey, Brody, it looks like your curiosity...
Brody: ...is about to destroy the cat!
  • No-Sell: Redbot can't be affected by Cat O'Clock's time freezing power, much to the monster's surprise.
  • Oh, Crap!: Cosmo when he realizes Galvanax overheard him describing his Her Code Name Was "Mary Sue" blog as what a great job he'd do running the Warrior Dome.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: A couple Kudobots were standing around Cosmo when he was working on his blog about running the Warrior Dome, but they beat their feet when they noticed Galvanax walk in.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Cat O'Clock's reaction to Brody gearing up the Finishing Move.
  • Time Stands Still: Cat O'Clock's plan is to freeze the Rangers in place when they touch copies of Redbot’s book and steal the Power Stars. Redbot is immune to his power, helping him save the Rangers. At the end of the episode, Victor and Monty are still frozen, being used as coatracks.
  • Verbal Tic: Cat O'Clock frequently says "Meow, meow" at the end of his sentences.
  • Villains Out Shopping: Cosmo and several Kudabots read Redbot's blog and really get a kick out of how he writes a story.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Cat O'Clock has dogs as his. First getting chased off by Kody, then also attacked by Haley's Kodiak Zord.
