Recap / Phineas And Ferb Troy Story

Go To

Inspired by Candace reading The Illiad for a book club meeting with Jeremy, Phineas, Ferb and the gang recreate the Trojan War. Meanwhile, Doofenshmirtz loses his De-Clutter-inator when he has trouble with throwing things away, so Perry helps him.

Tropes:

  • Anachronism Stew: The gang's reenactment of the Trojan War is rife with this, which makes Candace's summary of The Illiad at book club obvious that she never read the book.
  • Aside Comment: Stacy admits to the camera she only comes to book club for the tea.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Phineas says, "You know who loves history and historical reenactments?" as if to set up a familiar catchphrase.
    Buford: Hey, where's your dad?
  • Call-Back: Remember when Phineas and Ferb had to postpone the Trojan War reenactment when Isabella had her tonsils out in "I Scream, You Scream"? This time they finally get around to it.
  • Dramatic Irony: Doof made an inator to help him organize his entire apartment, but he can't find it. He also hired an organizing consultant named Doreen, but he lost her as well.
  • Everything's Louder with Bagpipes: The "Troy" song includes a bagpipe solo, despite the anachronism.
  • Given Name Reveal: The Ball Pit Kid, a Recurring Extra on the show, appears and is given the name "Balthazar Horowitz". "The Ball Pit Kid" is apparently an in-universe nickname of his.
  • Insistent Terminology: Buford demands his "Greek skirt" be called by its correct name, fustanella.
  • In-Universe Factoid Failure: In The Stinger, Candace gives a wildly-inaccurate summary of The Iliad based on Phineas and Ferb's heavily-embellished reenactment (which included flying chariots and a mechanical T. rex with laser eyes). Lucky for her, Jeremy admits that no one else in the book club was able to get through The Iliad either.
  • Just Here for the Free Snacks: It turns out that Stacy only goes to the book club meetings for the tea.
  • Last-Second Word Swap:
Phineas: I'll be Paris, because my name starts with a P.
Isabella: And I'll be Helen, because... uh... my... name... starts... with... I, which is right after H!
  • Shout-Out:
    • The title is a reference to Toy Story.
    • The "Rabbit Hole entrance" to Perry's secret lair is a nod to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and features a cameo by the White Rabbit and the Mock Turtle from the book and Jabberwock from Through the Looking Glass.
    • "We're gonna need a bigger army".
    • During the reenactment, Isabella's hair is styled similar to Megara's.
    • The final battle between the Trojans and the Greeks becomes more like The Battle of Hoth from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, once the Trojan T-Rex shows up. With its laser proof armor and head-mounted laser cannons, the t-rex is the AT-AT walkers. The chariots used by the Greeks are the Rebel Alliance's snowspeeders and also resort to using ropes to trip the t-rex when they notice their laser cannons are ineffective.
  • Special Guest: Leah Remini as Doreen the Organizer.
  • Written-In Absence: Doof mentions that Norm is in Maui.
