Recap / Phineas And Ferb Imperfect Storm

Go To

Phineas and Ferb create a wind amplification device for their giant kites, while Doofenshmirtz attempts to soak his childhood rival, Grulinda, with his Sog-inator. Meanwhile, Linda has professional landscape artists modify the backyard, and a misunderstanding leads Candace to believe her mom busted her boys straight-up.

Tropes:

  • Artistic License – Physics: How the wind amplifier for kite flying Phineas and Ferb designed works. It takes a small puff of air, supercools it, then superheats it with an air intake along the way that comes out strong enough to make giant kites fly. It also amplifies water somehow, making a rainstorm when some splashes into it.
  • Expy: Pierre and Florraine are essentially landscape artist versions of Phineas and Ferb, with Pierre being the more talkative of the two, and Florraine being the quiet one, except when he does speak, it is in Dutch. They both even have the same first letters.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Grulinda called Doof "Soggy Bottom Heinz Doofenshmirtz".
  • Girliness Upgrade: Grulinda in the present looks much more feminine than how she appeared in her childhood.
  • Gratuitous English: When Pierre admits to Florraine he has no idea what he is saying in Dutch, Florraine finally asks if he would rather speak in English.
  • Hairstyle Inertia: Subverted. Doofenshmirtz's childhood bully, Grulinda, moved to Danville recently. He thinks it's a woman who looked very much like she did as a child. He is surprised when he sees her now.
  • Mondegreen Gag: When Linda calls Candace to complain about what the landscape artists are doing to the backyard, Candace misinterprets the pronunciation "Du Bois" as "the boys", referring to Phineas and Ferb. This is what causes her to think her brothers are busted.
  • Musicalis Interruptus: A variation, in that Candace begins singing "Straight-Up Bust" in the mall, and then it cuts to the next scene as if she was finished, but when it cuts back to the mall, it turns out she was still singing! Turns out, that song was long enough to cut away from!
  • Overly Long Gag: When Candace believes her brothers got busted by Mom, she goes into her own musical number, "Straight-Up Bust". When we cut back to her a few scenes later, she is still singing.
  • Red Herring: The woman that Doofenshmirtz assumes to be Grulinda at first is actually a random woman who looked like Grulinda in her youth. The real Grulinda then shows up, and is needlessly beautiful.
  • Special Guest: Elizabeth Banks with an affected Drusselstinian accent plays Grulinda. Also, Leah Remini plays the woman that Doof mistakes for Grulinda. Also, Simon Pegg as landscape artist Pierre du Bois.
  • Swapped Roles: Candace becomes the one who does not believe her mom, while Linda becomes the "but, but, but"-er. Candace thinks she's being mocked.
  • The Unintelligible: Florraine only speaks Dutch, which Pierre pretends to understand, but does not really.
  • Viva Las Vegas!: After Agent P leaves, Carl asks if he is gone, to which Monogram replies, "Yeah, c'mon, let's go to Vegas!"

Grulinda

The ugly woman whom Doofenshmirtz assumed to be Grulinda turned out to be an unknown woman who looks like Grulinda in her youth, and the real Grulinda is astonishingly beautiful.
