Not to be confused with "Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation!".

To keep their mind off the hot weather, Phineas and Ferb decide to put on a cheesy Christmas variety special, complete with sweaters, fake snow, and Special Guest World Famous Singer Kelly Clarkson. Meanwhile, when Doof sees the special on TV, he decides to cram his Christmas shopping in one day.

Tropes

  • Ascended Extra: One of the extras ends up with two speaking lines.
  • Brand X: The Christmas special is sponsored by Wintobreath toothpaste.
Linda: Oh, you're right, Candace. We do need toothpaste. Thanks for reminding me.
  • Camera Abuse: Candace grabs the camera when she finds out she’s on her brothers’ live Christmas special.
  • Chew-Out Fake-Out: When Linda asks Candace about the boys doing Christmas in July.
Candace: Yes, yes they were! And…and…it was actually really sweet.
  • Chimney Entry: How Baljeet arrives at the Christmas special.
  • Christmas Episode: The second, after the aforementioned "Christmas Vacation" episode.
  • Christmas in July: Unlike the first Christmas episode, this one has the boys decide to put on a traditional Family Christmas Special in the middle of summer. Hilariously, the special airing on television causes Doofenshmirtz to mistakenly believe he's lost track of time and it actually is December, kicking off his plot in the episode.
Candace: Mom, Phineas and Ferb are making Christmas in July!
  • Christmas Special: In order to get some relief from the heat, the boys decide to put on their very own Christmas special.
  • Crowd Song: "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" is sung by everyone, including Candace and the camera and boom guys.
  • Demoted to Extra: In-Universe, Carl appears as one of the extras.
  • Drama Panes: Phineas sits at the window seat in the fake cabin and looks out the window forlornly because Perry’s the only one not with them for the Christmas special.
Isabella: He knows it’s not really Christmas, right?
  • Droste Image: After finding out she’s being filmed live, Candace turns on the television which shows an infinite image of her in front of the TV set.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: When Candace sees that her dad has joined in on the Christmas special, she asks "You too, dad?"
  • Everyone Hates Fruit Cakes: Perry launches rock-hard fruit cakes at Doofenshmirtz.
  • Homemade Sweater from Hell: Parodied. Candace asks the boys where they got their ugly Christmas sweaters, which the old lady making them takes great offense to.
  • It's the Best Whatever, Ever!: When Phineas finds Perry in a present under the tree, he says “This is the best Christmas ever!”
  • Musical Episode: Filled with Christmas Songs, both classics and parodies.
  • Oddball in the Series: This was the only "A" episode made without a "B" episode. As such, the full version of this episode is only eleven minutes. Sometimes it is paired with "S'Winter", and sometimes it is paired with "Christmas Vacation".
  • Parking Problems: Doofenshmirtz creates a Thing-O-Matic specifically to keep him from having to find a parking spot while Christmas shopping.
Doofenshmirtz: It’s not exactly evil, but it’s slightly unfair.
  • Requisite Royal Regalia: Buford wears a crown, cape, and holds a scepter when he’s dressed as King Wenceslas.
  • Song Parody: Buford sings one to the tune of “Good King Wenceslas” all about him getting lots of Christmas presents.
Buford: That is why I changed the words to make this song more edgy. If you don’t like the way I sing, you’ll get a Christmas wedgie!
  • Special Guest: Famous Singer (and future talk show host) Kelly Clarkson, but, sadly, she doesn't sing.
  • Standard Snippet: Unusual for a Phineas episode, but apt for the season, Isabella sings the Jule Styne & Sammy Cahn classic "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow".
  • Storefront Television Display: Candace calls Linda, who happens to be near a set of TVs in a storefront, which is broadcasting the Christmas in July special the boys are hosting. Right when Linda turns to look at the TV, it immediately goes right to commercial and shows the Wintobreath toothpaste the show is promoting, which reminds Linda she needs to pick up toothpaste and ends the call.
  • Teleportation: Doofenshmirtz invents an “inator” to teleport him directly to the store to do his Christmas shopping and avoid the parking lot. Perry then reverses the machine to bring him back to the apartment and uses it himself to teleport into the boys’ Christmas special. Finally, Doof tries to use the reversal trick to bring him back, but only manages to teleport the entire Christmas cabin set into his apartment - conveniently just in time for Linda to come home.
  • That Reminds Me of a Song: How Isabella segues into singing “Let It Snow”:
Isabella: You know what I love best about this time of year?
    Phineas: No! Tell us!
Isabella: It’s the music! Like this little number…
  • To the Tune of...: While decorating his house, Doof sings his Evil Jingle to the tune of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas".
    "Oh, Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated
    Oh, righty-tighty, lefty-loosey,
My, uh, decorations are almost done."
  • Under the Mistletoe: After bursting into Doofenshmirtz’s lair, Perry gingerly steps aside so that he doesn’t end up underneath the mistletoe hanging from the ceiling.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: This episode pays tribute to the old Christmas variety specials from the 1960s and 1970s.
