Recap / Phineas And Ferb What A Croc

Go To

Phineas and Ferb hunt down an escaped crocodile, while Candace pesters Irving to let her use his digital scrapbook for evidence. Meanwhile, Doofenshmirtz plots to embarrass Roger with his Chicken-Replace-inator.

Tropes:

  • Actually Pretty Funny:
    • Pretty much said word-for-word by Doof when Perry sticks a rubber chicken into his Chicken-Replace-inator.
    • It's also said by Phineas when Mom asks when Candace was sitting on a chicken.
  • Beyond the Impossible: Roger is being awarded Mayor of the Year for the second year in a row, even though he has only been mayor for one year.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: After Phineas says the magic words, Irving and Candace also do so.
Phineas: Ferb, I know what we're gonna do today!
Irving: Ferb, I know what I'm gonna do today, too!
Candace: Yes, Ferb, I know what I'm gonna take today. I mean borrow. I mean—
    Phineas: Hey, where's Perry?
  • Continuity Cavalcade: The UPAFDS has pictures of Phineas and Ferb's antics such as the rollercoaster, carving Candace's face on Mt. Rushmore, the cattle drive, the treehouse robots, and their spaceship.
  • Continuity Nod:
  • Demoted to Extra: Isabella, Baljeet, Buford and the Fireside Girls are only seen during the song, since this episode mainly focuses on Phineas, Ferb, Candace, and Irving.
  • Exact Words: When Candace answers Irving's knock, Irving asks if Phineas and Ferb are home, and she says they are and closes the door on him. Irving knocks again and asks if he can see them, to which Candace snarks, "Probably not from there" and closes the door on him. The third time, Irving says, "I would like to visit with my friends Phineas and Ferb. Could I please come in?"
  • Fun with Acronyms: The Ultimate Phineas and Ferb Digital Scrapbook, UPAFDS (pronounced "up-aff-dss") for short.
  • Henpecked Husband: The farmer and his wife return. Turns out the nearest chickens that Doof was getting were from the farmer's nearest chicken farm, and that's where all his furniture ended up. The wife berates him for turning his farm into a swap meet while she was out buying groceries.
Farmer: And what did you buy, dear?
Farmer's Wife: Frozen lasagna. They were on special, two for one, so I bought two, I figured we could have one tonight and then we could have the other one when your sister and her husband... Ah, d-don't change the subject!
  • Shout-Out: When Candace speeds away from Crikey on the wet ski, Irving says, "We're gonna need another boat."
  • Show Within a Show: Horse in a Bookcase. It's about a horse in a bookcase. Huh.
  • Special Guest: The late Ray Liotta appears As Himself to deliver Perry's mission in place of Major Monogram, who once did him a favor at The Academy.
Young Monogram's Voice: Hey, uh, Ray, I just did you a favor.
Young Liotta's Voice: Thanks, Francis! I owe you big!
  • Squick: Invoked Trope. When Crikey swallows the UPAFDS, Irving tells Candace to wait a couple of hours. Candace is disgusted by this. Irving tries to tell her that his brother will come with a backup, then asks what she thought he meant, then realizes, and is also disgusted by that thought. (It is not outright mentioned, but it is obvious that she thought Irving was going to mention Crikey pooping it out.)
  • Tuckerization: The news says that search parties are looking for Crikey the crocodile in the swamp areas, and Phineas says that they are wasting time looking for him in a swampy marsh.
