Jeramie: On the planet Tikyu, there were five kingdoms.
Their kings formed the Ohsama Sentai, and alongside the guardian deity, King-Ohger, they brought an end to the brutal war with the Bognaarok, saving the planet in the process.
Jeramie became the ruler of the Bognaarok, gaining recognition for the sixth kingdom.
Thus began the long, long road towards reconciliation between man and Bognaarok.
Two years have since passed...

Two years after peace was established between the human and Bognaarok races, Tikyū has finally achieved peace. However, four of the six monarchs are imprisoned for unknown reasons, leading to their retainers having to take over. Things seem to be going well despite the hiccups, though a new threat from beyond the stars threatens that very peace...

Tropes

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Yanma, Hymeno and Kaguragi were imprisoned for over-indulging in their kingdoms' power structures. Rita just wanted a vacation and outright walked into jail by choice.
  • Batman Can Breathe in Space: Zig-zagged. When Dugded first teleports Gira on to a barren planet to show off his handiwork, Gira is left gasping for air until Dugded gives him the small mercy of being able to breathe even in inhospitable places.
  • Big Damn Heroes: The Kings break out of their prison to save their aides right as the Jesters have them dead-to-rights.
  • Call-Back:
    • The opening of the episode harkens back to the series' premiere, albeit with the attendants in place of the monarchs, since they're currently imprisoned. They even pull off an Unflinching Walk sequence like their leaders in the first episode.
    • The final shot of the episode has all the monarchs, including Jeramie, sitting on their thrones like in the opening.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Dugded finds himself surprised when Gira doesn't just say "no" to being a pawn in the villain's games but outright attacks him.
  • Fluffy the Terrible: The generals of the spectacular galaxy-spanning extermination force are called Jesters.
  • Gondor Calls for Aid: Gerojim arrives at Gokkan to request the aid of the incarcerated monarchs, which they then use as an excuse to do a prison break.
  • Heroes Gone Fishing: With the war against the Bognaarok ended, some of the kings have decided to indulge themselves for the peaceful 2 years that have passed. That being said, being the wonkas that they are, they ended up overindulging themselves to differing degrees of Gone Horribly Right, as detailed below.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Yanma, Hymeno, Kaguragi and Rita are in jail for various reasons:
  • History Repeats: Invoked. Dugded arrives on Earth by forming an illusion of a second Fury Of The Gods over Shugoddam's skies, only to dispel it and reveal himself.
  • Jerkass Ball: Yanma, Hymeno and Kaguragi firmly gripped it during the time between episodes, having indulged in each of their worse tendencies to the degree they were imprisoned for it. Rita's also there, albeit because they wanted a vacation rather than any wrongdoing.
  • Not so Dire: The first act suggests that all the kings other than Gira have been subjected to Dropped a Bridge on Him. It later turns out that all of them are simply serving jail time for various offences.
  • The Peter Principle: Despite their general competence, the attendants are woefully unequipped to handle the stresses of rulership, naturally leading to them being awful as rulers.
  • Pose of Supplication: The regent-retainers adopt one when Gira brings up the rulers being imprisoned as the former apologize for their monarchs' behavior.
  • Reestablishing Character Moment:
    • Gira is shown leading a meeting of the leaders of the Six-Nation Alliance, showing how he's grown into his role as the king of Shugoddam.
    • The other countries, however, are represented by the retainers due to the monarchs having gotten themselves imprisoned in Gokkan due to over-indulging their vices (though in Rita's case, they put themselves into jail as a way to use up their accumulated leaves).
    • Jeramie is shown as having barely survived a Curb-Stomp Battle, indicating his plan to integrate the Bognaarok as Tikyu's newest kingdom have hit a big snag — and that a new enemy is coming on the horizon.
  • Sadistic Choice: Dugded's talk with Gira amounts to one: Either obey his wishes and exterminate the Bognaarok to secure the lives of the humans or face destruction at his hands. Gira decides to Take a Third Option and rebels against him instead.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: Dugded takes Gira on an elaborate journey throughout the various planets he's "cleaned up" in an attempt to break the king's spirit and turn him into another pawn for his life-exterminating games. Gira outright refuses and attacks Dugded alongside Jeramie.
  • Sketchy Successor: Played for Laughs. Each of the monarchs' aides take the thrones of their respective kings after their incarcerations. They're very bad at it. Sebastian is the most blatant example; having gotten a gut from slovenly lazing about. When the four strut about Shugoddam's streets to bolster morale, nobody's there.
Sebastian: We thought seeing their rulers might encourage the people...
Shiokara: ...But I don't think we're cut out to be kings.
  • So Last Season: The Galactinsects show why they're much more powerful than the Bognaarok by fighting the monarchs to a standstill, and in Dugded's case he even No Sells Gira's (in Super Mode) and Jeramie's attacks.
  • Status Quo Is God: Downplayed. The aides have taken over the various kingdoms (sans Shugoddam and Bognaarok) due to the monarchs' power having gone to their heads, yet by the end of the episode the monarchs are back with only infrastructure worse for wear. Gira is also yet again a rebel in the face of a superior force...alongside all the other rulers this time.
  • Theme Song Power Up: "Zenryoku King" starts playing in the final scenes of the episode.
  • The Reveal:
    • Dugded isn't exactly an insect, but is an Eldritch Abomination that sees the universe as his bedroom.
    • All of Shugoddam's previous kings had been strong-armed by Dugded into warring with the Boggnarok, making him the series' Greater-Scope Villain. Gira is the first one to defy him.
  • Time Skip: The episode's premise. Two years after humans and Bognaarok join hands in peace, the monarchs must now face a new threat.
  • Title-Only Opening: No opening sequence this episode, presumably to avert Spoiler Opening, as everyone has a new look due to the time skip.
  • To Create a Playground for Evil: Dugded's modus operandi. He takes two races and pits them against one another, all while enjoying the fighting.

Jeramie: This is the tale of the Kings who protect Tikyu... and of warriors rising up in rebellion.
