The Destiny's Bounty find the Cloud Kingdom as it's suffering a merge-quake. In the process, they meet a new ally and try to learn more about the Merge.
Tropes:
- The Bad Guy Wins: While everyone's distracted by the merge-quake and the monsters it unleashes, the Imperium capture the two dragons and take them back home.
- Continuity Nod: Lloyd mentions he met (and was possessed by) the previous Elemental Master of Wind, Morro, and greatly prefers Euphrasia.
- Didn't See That Coming: Despite knowing what is supposed to happen being their whole thing, the Cloud Monks have been completely blind-sided by the Merge, and the Merge Quakes, with the indication that whatever's caused it, it's outside their control, and the usual rules of destiny.
- His Name Is...: The worms in the archives all turn just as they're about to give vital details on just what's up with the Merge.
- No-Sell: The tentacle monsters are immune to fire, much to Kai's irritation.
- Put on a Bus: Nya decides to stay with the monks for the time being, figuring that she can investigate and try to find out what caused the Merge.
- Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Per Cloud Monk rules, Euphrasia shouldn't interfere with anything, but decides to use her powers anyway, knowing that the result will likely be getting kicked out of her home. Fortunately, Suetonius realizes the situation is nowhere near as cut and dried.
- Skewed Priorities: Suetonius initially orders the Cloud Monks to keep scribing even as they're under attack.
