"Home Made Heroes": Molly and Tooey create their own Alaska Native superheroes.

"Home Made Heroes" contains the following tropes:

  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Tooey's superhero has the ability to grow to enormous heights and fling objects across the galaxy. While not inherently a threat, he uses his power to intimidate an alien stealing lake water.
  • Animal-Themed Superbeing: Oscar's idea for a superhero is Niinjii, who is themed after a lynx. Vera comes up with Ch'itsal, who can shapeshift into a songbird.
  • Animorphism: Vera's idea for a superhero is a girl who can turn into a songbird.
  • Art Shift: When Molly and Tooey come up with their comic story, the art style changes to that of a Motion Comic.
  • Brought to You by the Letter "S": Mighty McMann has an "M" on his chest.
  • Composite Character: The Denali Defender is a composite of all the kids' superheroes.
  • Idiot Hero: Tooey certainly thinks Mighty McMann is one. He points out how he's wearing a leotard in a blizzard.
  • Meaningful Name: Molly's hero is named Shaeeyaa, which means "shimmering star." Tooey's hero is named Keele Gedese, which means "gigantic boy."
  • Narm: In-Universe, Molly and Tooey consider Mighty McMann using his powers to "defeat the snow" to have this effect.
  • Our Giants Are Bigger: Tooey's hero, Keele Gedese, is a giant with super strength.
  • Self-Insert Fic: Molly and Tooey's comic characters are obviously self-inserts of themselves.
  • Shout-Out: Molly and Tooey read a book about the history of comics, which mentions one of the first comics ever made, The Adventures of Mr. Obadiah Oldbuck.
  • So Bad, It's Good: In-Universe, Mr. Rowley considers the Mighty McMann comics "dopey," but he likes them, especially the artwork.
  • Start My Own: Molly and Tooey are disappointed when a comic book they read about Alaska has no Alaska Native characters in it, so they create their own Alaska Native superheroes.
  • Superheroes Wear Capes: Shaeeyaa wears a cape that can control the weather and time.
  • Super-Strength: Keele Gedese has super strength due to being a giant.
  • Time Master: Besides having weather powers, Shaeeyaa can also control time. She uses it to make night come faster.
  • Weather Manipulation: Shaeeyaa can use her cape to control the weather and generate things such as ice and lightning.

"Molly and the Snow Hawk": Molly is hesitant to part with her old sled, the Snow Hawk.

"Molly and the Snow Hawk" contains the following tropes:

  • Friendship Moment: Molly doesn't want to give away her sled at first, but ultimately commits an act of selflessness by giving it to Trini. Tooey even commends her for the cool thing she did.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Molly is sure that Snow Hawk will still work. Cut to the sled breaking apart while Molly is sledding down a hill at a dangerous speed.
  • Overcrank: Used when Molly is taking her sled out of the shed.
  • Record Needle Scratch: Heard when Tooey realizes how old and rusty the Snow Hawk is.
