Two Worlds, One Family: Prologue
Following her mission gone wrong, Lilith takes some time off to clear her mind and is roped into a different task.
Tropes that appear in this Chapter:
- Brick Joke: The prologue of the previous book was a Flashback Episode focusing on a Clawthorne caring for a newborn before switching to the present. That's how things go here.
- The Cameo: Amity appears as a baby in the past while Hooty has a brief appearance and one line in the present.
- A Day in the Limelight: Lilith is the first focus character for the new season.
- Deus Exit Machina: For the first time in the series Luz is completely absent, not even being mentioned. King is also absent while Eda is only mentioned.
- Flashback Episode: The chapter mostly takes place following the aftermath of Lilith killing Camila. It also shows how Odalia started her plan for convincing Lilith to be Amity's godmother.
- Immediate Sequel: In the present day, this chapter takes place the morning after "The Rescue".
- Minimalist Cast: For the whole chapter, Lilith, Belos, the Blights and Hooty are the only characters to appear. Only counting the present day, it's just the former and the latter.
- Out of Focus: Amity only appears as a baby in the flashbacks and she's only mentioned in the present. The rest of the main cast has no mentions.
- Sequel Episode: The prologue's flashback story follows up on the previous prologue's, showing what happened after Lilith killed Camila.
- Tempting Fate: Lilith hopes things won't be too bad living in the Owl House. Then Hooty says good morning to her, causing her to scream.
- The Voice: Downplayed. Not counting their illusions, Edric and Emira are only heard, not seen.
