On his first crime scene, Amenadiel has to work together with James Reiben, the officer who racially profiled him and Caleb in "Super Bad Boyfriend". Reiben has been promoted to detective, which means that he has to work with Officer Harris to solve a case that he is racially inclined not to take seriously, with an innocent woman at risk of being incarcerated. Meanwhile, Lucifer attempts to make up for all of the lost father-daughter bonding that Rory never experienced growing up.

- Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Lucifer becomes this in his attempts to bond with Rory and compensate for his apparent abandonment of her.
- Bait the Dog: When Amenadiel proves the victim's girlfriend exists Rieben apologizes to Amenadiel both for ignoring the lead and his earlier treatment of Caleb.....before deciding that the girlfriend is now the suspect and threatening her life in the climax.
- Brick Joke: Linda and Lucifer find it weird that Maze of all people gives Lucifer the same advice about dealing with Rory that Linda gives him. Later, Lucifer mentions this to Rory, who also finds it weird.
- A Day in the Limelight: While there is a subplot involving Lucifer bonding with Rory, the episode focuses on Amenadiel as an LAPD officer, and how he has to skirt around the inherent racism in the system to give people true justice.
- Drives Like Crazy: Rory drives past the speed limit to screw with Lucifer.
- Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Reiben actually seems to feel somewhat regretful of how he treated Caleb....before doubling down by going after the victim's girlfriend.
- Karma Houdini: Despite all the complaints against him, Reiben never got any comeuppance and in fact received a promotion. At the end of the episode, he still escapes justice, although Chloe is planning something with the LAPD.
- Kicked Upstairs: Harris declined promotion to detective because she knew that she would have just been shipped off to a place away from the 'hood, preventing her from getting close with people that she feels she has to help.
- Papa Wolf: Lucifer threatens a woman who flirts with Rory by showing her his red eyes. Rory clearly doesn't take it well.
