NOTE FOR READERS: Since the last issue 37 is considered lost, the exact details about the final battle between Liska versus the Red Canyon tribe, outside the final outcome of the story according with the Distant Finale issue published years later, are completely unknown to this date. That includes the possible deaths of other named characters, and the final whereabouts of the survivors, including what happened with Thorin, Milpul and Kemal during Leah's era, excluding Loanzah and Leah herself.

After a big Time Skip from the last sub-arc, the issue begins with Loanzah, Kemal and Milpul Leonius, the children of Leahtrah and Thorin Leonius, now as college-level young adults, with Loanzah having a new boyfriend, a Hoplite cheetah named Valentine, Milpul having a part-time job, and Kemal also having a part-time work as a office worker. All of them are waiting for their parents, which they bring an special guest to their home, a Mousekin scholar named Master Cheddar, which is a descendant of one of the warriors of their clan who helped Liska during the Final Battle against Rakon and their tribe, the Red Canyon tribe.

And regarding that, that reunion is very special for many reasons, as it will mark the end of the story of Liska Mitsel-eman and the way she and her tribe fought for their survival in those hard times, and the ultimate decision she did. Also, this is the first time someone else besides Leah helps her to tell the story, sharing the narrating duties with her.

Meanwhile, in Liska's era, three years after the events from "The Witch of the Woods" sub-arc, she became the new tribe chief of the Highland tribe, replacing the late Chief Pownetkee, who died due to old age. The first thing she did as the new chief was appointing Wind Flower, the seer, as the new Seneschal, replacing the previous one, Dohnlohak, who also likely died as well, while her brother Markree, Pyndan and Hesta became clan chiefs.

Also, Patches, her younger wife, gave birth a new daughter, thanks to Markree, named Warm Sun, while also having a new home, a wood cabin that replaced her old traditional teepee. And her younger son, Quiet Bird, will be married with Dancing Star, a girl he met in the last arc.

But just when everything seemed to be going smoothly for our heroine, things take a sudden and tragic turn: While Quiet Bird was practicing with his new knife her stepmother brought to him, he accidentally maims a man, who was being chased by the tribe's warriors. While the local healers were unable to save that man's life, it turned out he was one of the Red Canyon tribe's spies, who were spying on the Highland tribe. It turns out Liska wasn't the only person who became chief after the death or retirement of their previous leaders, since Rakon became the new leader of his own land after his father became too old to lead. And the first thing he did as the new tribe chief is to settle the score with his hated enemy, Liska, once for all.

And thus, this is the story of how these two tribes engaged in the final battle that would not only decide which of the two tribes would survive, but would also decide, unbeknownst to anyone else, the fate of the entire planet Katmandu for the next two centuries.

  • A Death in the Limelight: Issue 36 shows the final battle between Quiet Bird and Rakon, which ends with the death of the latter, and in the last following issue, the last one, ends with the death of Liska after pulling a Heroic Sacrifice in order to save her tribe from being outright exterminated.
  • Anachronism Stew: During the battle against the Red Canyon tribe, the Highland tribe uses the upgraded rifles given by Indigo via Hesta, which resembles Winchester rifles. The problem here with this is that the final arc takes place at 1780s, while those rifles weren't created until 1866, 81 years later, through this could be explained that the culture of planet Katmandu could had advanced in a different way compared with human story.
  • Anyone Can Die: And holy shit how! This arc is maybe the most bloodiest one since "When Warriors Die", as this is the first time more than one named character dies or died off-screen. Basically, the ones who died, either on battle or due to old age, are Chief Pownetkee, Mother Sanna, the old Seneschal, Rakon, and finally, Liska herself, plus many innocent bystanders from both tribes.
  • Bittersweet Ending: The whole ending is almost downer for almost all the parties involved, including even those who didn't participated in the events from the final battle:
    • The Highland tribe survived the tribal war against the Red Canyon tribe, but they suffered possibly the biggest loss of lives in their whole story.
    • The Red Canyon tribe was absorbed by the Highland tribe, losing their own identity along the way, and also they lost their leader, Rakon. They also lost all their military forces as well.
    • Liska, the first female tribe chief of all the history of the planet Katmandu, became also, ironically enough, the last one, as she also died in combat against Rakon and his tribe. Also, she had the dubious honor of being the tribe chief with the shortest reign, as she only ruled the Highland tribe for less of a year, compared with her predecessor, Chief Pownetkee, which lasted much longer than her, excluding obviously her brief three-year stint as an acting chief during "The Witch of the Woods" sub-arc.
    • And finally, the whole battle settled the stage, years later, for a much bigger conflict between the Velites against the Hoplites, which lasted two centuries until Leah's era.
  • The Bus Came Back: Even if they are basically extras with speaking roles, Pyndan and Markree and returns after many issues without appearing themselves. On the other hand, this is averted with Chief Cor-mac-den, Hesta and Wind Flower, the three of them playing important roles on the story.
  • Diabolus ex Machina: A very massive one happens in the final issue, as the entire Highland tribe, after having defeated the Red Canyon tribe, and killed Rakon, celebrated their victory, and, at the next day, all the warriors with hunting abilities, excluding Liska, who was too drunk and weak to follow them, and Quiet Bird, who remained in home. Afterwards, the last loyal members of the Red Canyon tribe, trying to avenge the death of their chief, launched a surprise attack on the Highland tribe, killing scores of people along the way, and with the intention of wiping out both Liska and her tribe from the face of the planet.
  • Final Battle: Basically, this sub-arc marks the end of the whole story of Liska, but also is the very final battle between her and Rakon, both having reasons to want the other dead since decades ago.
  • The Ghost: Linna and the rest of her siblings, which in turn are Liska's biological children, doesn't appear anymore, while Thea, the oldest of them, is stated to had married and having children, very likely with Giles. The same goes with the rest of Liska's children as well. The only ones who appear here are Quiet Bird and Patches' one, named Warm Sun.
  • Grand Finale: This sub-arc is the final story arc of the whole comic, marking the end of Liska Mitsel-eman's story and it also shows her final battle and sacrifice in order to save her tribe.
  • The Heroine Dies: After trying to distract Rakon's remaing forces still loyal to him, even after his death, Liska is fatally wounded after receiving a Rain of Arrows on her body, and, in an last struggle, she managed to keep them from following attacking her tribe, but she later died alone in a cave.
  • Mutual Kill: For all practical effects, both Liska and Rakon ended up killing each other, the former after Rakon's surviving goons killed her after she used herself as bait in order to stop them from keep attacking her tribe, and the latter when Quiet Bird, Liska's adopted child, killed him in an one-sided duel.
  • Time Skip: Big time for both Leah and Liska's eras:
    • In Leah's era, there's a really big skip between the events from this arc compared with both the Runt and Witch of the Woods sub-arcs, and while we don't know the exact ages of Loanzah, Milpul and Kemal as adults, we have to asume they are all three about 18 years old, compared with the Runt sub-arc, when Loanzah was about older than 12 years old, which means there's was a 7-8 years skip.
    • In Liska's era, there's a three years skip from the Witch of the Woods sub-arc, as Quiet Bird marries with Dancing Star and had sex with her, since the former got warriordom at 16 in the previous arc.
  • War Arc: This arc serves as this, without mention this is also the last arc of its kind in the comic, for obvious reasons, as it shows the final battle between the Highland tribe against the Red Canyon tribe.
