An unexpected group of faces seems to offer the kids a chance at being rescued, however it soon becomes obvious there is more going on and when an old threat emerges, it quickly becomes clear that the camp family still have more to face before they can escape, including someone they never thought they would see again...

  • Air-Vent Passageway: Darius, Brooklynn, and Yaz use this to sneak into the E750 lab ahead of Dr. Wu and the mercenaries, while they're still clearing the storm debris from the entrance.
  • Cliffhanger: Brooklynn is grabbed from behind by Hawkes in the vents. She gives Darius the laptop, and then gets hauled away into the darkness…
  • Dropping the Bombshell: The helicopter pilot mentions it's been six months since Jurassic World was abandoned, much to Kenji, Ben, and Sammy's shock.
  • Did Not Think Thisthrough: Rexy is seconds away from chomping a defenseless Yaz - cue several small rocks hitting her in the face. She turns to the rock-throwing Darius and Brooklynn, who suddenly realize this.
  • Hellish Copter: When a Brachiosaurus's head unexpectedly rises up from the jungle right in front of the chopper, the pilot veers left trying to evade it, sending the helicopter into a death spiral and crashing into the canopy.
  • Hostile Weather: The main reason the campers decide to comply with the chopper’s orders; there’s a bad storm approaching the island, and they could be in danger if they keep going out to sea in their relatively small yacht. The storm causes more complications for the mercenaries due to radio interference and falling debris.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: While the pilot was wrong to leave Darius, Yaz, Brooklyn, and Hansen for dead at the jaws of Rexy, she wasn't wrong to state that she, Kenny, Ben, and Sammy would be dead if she hadn't flown off earlier.
  • MacGuffin: Dr. Wu's laptop; it holds data on the Scorpios and Indominus that would take him years to replicate otherwise. The campers fear what he might create if he gets that data back…
  • Meaningful Echo: When Yaz, Darius and Brooklyn decide to stop Wu's plans, they make a pact that they must stop him, whatever it takes. When Brooklyn is facing the possibility she'll be captured, even if it costs her life, she looks her friends dead in the eye and calmly assures "Whatever it takes".
  • The Radio Dies First: Thanks to the bad storm in the area, the three mercenary teams in their three choppers lose track of one another when their radios go on the fritz.
  • Rule of Three: Three helicopters with mercenary teams arrive on Isla Nublar at the same time. The first stops to pick up the campers – despite not even knowing they were there before – only for Rexy and a stray Brachiosaurus to ruin everything, wiping them out. The second head to the Jurassic World lagoon, and despite losing some of their number to Rexy and the Mosasaurus, manage to retrieve a sample of the Indominus rex. The third, personally led by Dr. Wu, stop by his old lab to retrieve his personal laptop with his data on the Scorpios and Indominus, but the campers learn of their intentions and decide to stop them.
  • Synchronous Episodes: The episode takes place at the same time as the opening scene of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and gives new context to the events. The protagonists even see the scene with the retreating helicopter and one doomed mercenary who gets eaten by the Mosasaurus.
  • Terrifying Tyrannosaur: Rexy is on the hunt in the area, and the campers spend some time evading her.
  • Uncertain Doom: It's never explained what happened to the helicopter pilot right after the crash; she vanishes from the pilot's seat by the time Sammy, Kenji, and Ben regain consciousness and is never seen again.
  • Vine Swing: After the helicopter crashes into the jungle canopy, Sammy, Kenji, and Ben end up swinging off the chopper on a vine to escape before it plummets to the ground.
