VIP Baby You Know Me

  • Arc Words: "Cool", including the phrase "Cool don't quit".
  • Bad Samaritan: Fleegle purposefully gave Shag Rugg a stack of cash to spend it to his heart's content with the expectation that the cub would repay him along with a 500% interest rate.
  • Bad Review Threat: The Banana Splits blackmail Shag into giving them the money he owes them by threatening to give the Mud Bug Café a one-star review. When they accidentally leave one anyway, Maw Rugg arrives to lay the hurt on them.
  • Berserk Button: When the Banana Splits post a one star review of the place online the whole clan minus Shag break down the wall and beat them up for it.
Maw Rugg: Which one of you dang-dong-dingleberries gave our café a one-star review?!
  • Big "NO!": Shag does this three times in a row when the Splits threaten to give the Mud Bug Cafe a bad review.
  • Bouncer: Ruff and Reddy serve as the bouncers for the club.
  • Brick Joke: Fleegle of the Banana Splits threatens Shag by, among other things, giving the Ruggs' restaurant a one-star review. At the end of the episode, the rest of the Hillbilly Bears show up, none too pleased that the Banana Splits gave them such a review... and proceed to beat the crap out of them.
  • Coolest Club Ever: Shag turns the Mud Bug Café into a ritzy nightclub with glow sticks, sparkling apple juice, hay bales made of shredded silk pajamas, and a flaming ice cream sculpture.
  • Costumes Change Your Size: In the climax of the episode, Shag Rugg dupes The Banana Splits by having several of his friends disguise themselves flawlessly as doubles of Shag using costumes from a trunk within the Splits' warehouse. Two of Shag's pals who help to trick the Splits, Yakky Doodle and Peter Potamus, are respectively smaller and much bigger than the bear cub and yet are as flawlessly disguised as Shag as Augie Doggie is.
  • Evil Is Petty: The Splits go up against Shag Rugg by… threatening to give his family's restaurant a one star review. Shag takes it very seriously.
  • Fountain of Youth: Winsome Witch turns herself into a baby to get into Shag's modified club.
  • Jaded Washout: In Fleegle's words, the Splits used to be the coolest, and he warns Shag that cool is fleeting. That said, Shag's deal with him causes them to have a Heel–Face Turn for the episode.
  • Mythology Gag: When the Banana Splits admit they used to be cool, their original designs can be seen as they reminisce.
  • Noodle Incident: Apparently Fleegle has loaned money to children multiple times and has always regretted it in the end.
  • Not on the List: Peter Potamus is not on the club's VIP list.
  • Shout-Out: Augie compares the club to a show Doggie Daddy watches where all the housewives throw drinks at each other.
  • Slippery Skid: Shag uses a bag of marbles to make Snorky slip.
  • Take That!: The Banana Splits' revelation of being tragic villains is one to The Banana Splits Movie.
  • Tragic Villain: Revealed when the Splits moan their past glory.
Shag: I JUST WANTED TO BE COOL!!
Fleegle: Did you say... "cool"? "Cool". I haven't heard that word in years. Did you know we used to be cool? We used to be... the coolest.
    Shag: Oh, snap.
Fleegle: Don't waste your time on being cool, kid. It doesn't last anyways.
  • Trauma Button: As soon as Shag mentions the word "cool", the Splits immediately lament about how they used to be the coolest before they fell from grace.
  • Weight Woe: Bingo breaks down in tears when he looks at himself in a bunch of (funhouse) mirrors and believes that he's gotten fat. Ironic considering his original incarnation was rather pudgy.

El Kabong's Kabong is Gone

  • Beard of Sorrow: Kabong grows one after the death of Susan.
  • Cargo Envy: El Kabong passionately kisses his guitar Susan. Jabberjaw wishes that she was the guitar.
  • Dramatic Thunder:
    • Lampshaded.
El Kabong: YIKES!! Wow, did you see that?! It almost hit me!
    • And again:
Squiddly: Oh my gosh! You were almost hit by lightning!
El Kabong: I know, it's been acting a lot today.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: The Banana Splits were horrified by the sight of El Kabong transforming his body into a guitar, as anyone would.
  • Gray Rain of Depression: It starts raining immediately after the Banana Splits kill Susan and El Kabong cries out.
  • Great Escape: The Banana Splits easily dig their way out of prison.
  • Heroic BSoD: El Kabong has a mental breakdown in front of his students over the loss of Susan.
  • I Have a Family: When the Splits rob Peter's hot dog stand, he protests that he has a family...of action figures.
  • Poke the Poodle: The Banana Splits' acts of villainy include painting all the fruit the wrong colors (so no one can tell which fruit is which) and putting "Wash Me" Graffiti on Captain Caveman's van (so now he has to wash it).
  • Say My Name: "SUSAN!!!!!!"
  • "Wash Me" Graffiti: The Splits write "Wash Me" on Captain Caveman's dirty van.
  • Wingding Eyes: Jabberjaw gets heart eyes when El Kabong arrives at Magilla's store.
  • You Monster!: El Kabong calls the Banana Splits monsters for killing Susan.
