Recap / Infinity Train: Boiling Point: The Day of Unity

Go To

The final battle for the Train and the Day of Unity finally begins.

  • 13 Is Unlucky: Positive example: Azura's 13th attempt in the Day of Unity is her last, as the Boiling Isles team manage to execute the ritual in order to do it and stop Azura from doing her own version.
  • Big "NO!": Lucy screams this when she sees Grace and Simon's Heroic Sacrifice.
  • Breaking Old Trends: Instead of the alternate title being the name of a Car or some relevant statement, it's named after the main event of the arc, the Day of Unity.
  • Foreshadowing: When Chloe learns the horrible reveal of Specter's death, she unleashes a loud scream and her Battle Aura flares in her anguish. She uses this to severely weaken Hazel in the Final Battle, egged on from Hazel gloating about killing him.
  • From a Certain Point of View: At the start of the arc, Azura claims that this attempt on the Day of Unity will be the successful one. Come the end of the arc, and the Day of Unity does happen, just not in the way she wanted.
  • A Death in the Limelight: Specter gets a focus chapter in Part 3 and it ends with his brooch shattered by Hazel.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Grace and Simon tackle the True Apex onto the Train's wheels.
  • Killed Mid-Sentence: Hazel ends up dying this way:
Hazel: Don't think that I'm some mirror, you [Chloe] disgusting little — (gets her head sliced off by Alrick and Amelia's Keyblade)
  • Laugh Track: One of these plays after Hazel kills Chloe by dropping a piano on her head.
  • Meaningful Echo: Before killing Chloe the first time, Hazel remarks "You're dead". Chloe then echoes the sentiment when Amelia and Alrich kill her.
    Chloe: You're right, you're not a mirror. You're dead.
    • Boa's words — "Words are tools for the weak, actions are tools for the strong" — are played in Chloe's head before she decides the gloves are off and she's ready to murder Hazel.
  • Multi-Part Episode: Easily the longest arc in Boiling Point, consisting of seven chapters.
  • Mythology Gag: Green Phantom Queen (who helped write parts 6 and 7) notes that Chloe is fighting against a blond-haired maniac while declaring who she really is...before realizing she just confused Hazel with Walter Sullivan from Blossoming Trail.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Hazel shattering Specter's brooch and gloating about it is what tipped Chloe to fight back and ends up with her demise. Whoopsie!
  • Night of the Living Mooks: Azura summons an army of dead witches in order to fight the resistance of the Boiling Isles. They melt away once Azura loses her powers from the Day of Unity.
  • No Immortal Inertia: Once the Day of Unity happens and her deal with the Titans is broken, Azura begins aging into dust.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Chloe's Angst Nuke was shown to do some serious damage against Hazel who walks out severely weakened.
  • The Reveal:
    • Hazel reveals who killed Tuba — Hazy Hughes.
    • Azura's powers turns out to have come from her deal with the Titans: The Day of Unity coming to pass takes away those powers.
  • Rule of Symbolism:
    • Hazel shatters Specter's brooch and he's a tsukumogami based on a mirror. What happens if you shatter a mirror? You get cursed with bad luck as Hazel ends up killed off.
    • Chloe spends most of her battle reflecting on her actions but only when Goh joins the fight can she move on and actually grow as a person.
  • Shut Up, Kirk!: No matter what Chloe argues, it goes in one ear and out the other with Hazel. Point out how she could've been happy? She retorts Chloe is no better. Say Tuba wouldn't want her to turn out the way she did? Hazel blames Tuba for getting herself killed, while pointing out how Chloe wasn't there to stop it from happening. Claim she just sees Denizens as tools and doesn't care about anyone? Hazel bluntly brings up her unique existence before killing her. It gets to the point Goh has to blatantly point out it's not working before they work together.
  • Spanner in the Works: Specter going to fight Hazel turns out to be a monkey wrench for both her and Azura. For Hazel's side, because she shattered his broach, Chloe ends up taking the fight personally and uses her grief on losing a friend to power up an Angst Nuke to severely weaken Hazel. And on Azura's side, Crow uses the broken broach to rally the youkai to join Gus and Emira to destroy the Good Witch by slaughtering the coven heads. And all of this was caused by shattering a mirror. Way to go Hazel!
  • Talking Is a Free Action: Exploited by Hazel, who humors Chloe's attempts to call her out on her malice partially to lower her guard so she can kill her, and partially so she can find a way to break her further. Then this is used against her; Hazel falls for Chloe's rant one more time after Grace and Simon kill the True Apex, so she's ill-prepared when Amelia and Alrick decapitate her.
