Go To

Original Air Date: November 29, 2017

With Soma's victory against Eizan, Polaris managed to remain in Tootsuki. Isshiki then reveals his last action before being removed from the Elite Ten: A fighting chance for the Research Societies against Central.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Achievements in Ignorance: When Alice and Ryou were in middle school, she challenged the Cutting Edge RS in exchange of their room, just because she wanted the space for herself. Right before the Survivors Hunt, she was informed that the Shokugeki not only gave her the room and the equipment, but also the leadership of the club. She immediately used this as an excuse to partake in.
  • Adaptation Distillation:
    • In the manga, Azami is supposed to visit the Polaris Dorm, as well as Soma revealing to him and Erina that Jouichirou is his father. This scene is moved to Episode 12 for narrative purposes.
    • The groups to survey the Survivors Hunt. In the manga, they divide in four groups, with Fumio in one of them. In the anime, they instead divide in three groups without Fumio: Team A with Ryoko, Yuuki, Shun and Isami; Team B with Hisako, Shoji, Daigo and Zenji; and Team C with Soma, Takumi and Megumi.
    • The flashback of how Alice gained the leadership of the Cutting-Edge RS is resumed in a montage of how it happened, all narrated by her.
  • Cool Bike: Soma gives Megumi a ride in his vespa, while Takumi follows him in his race bycicle.
  • Covert Pervert: Despite being in shock and Hisako trying to cover her innocent eyes, Erina is still watching Isshiki in Naked Apron mode.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Knowing well ahead that Azami will dismiss him (as well as Kuga and Megishima) from the Elite Ten, Satoshi spends what little time he had in power writing up the rules of the Survivor's Hunt, in which Research Societies and Seminars would have to challenge the remaining Elite Ten members and their reserves for a chance to have their dissolution revoked. In particular, the fourth clause requires all judges to be outsiders who had no prior contact with the competitors, presumably to avoid another incident like Eizan hiring Central loyalists to rig shokugekis in his favor.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Once Azami ascended to power, his first action is to remove Isshiki, Kuga and Megishima (A.K.A. the members who didn't elect him as director) from the Elite Ten.
  • The Face: Alice becomes this to her new Cutting-Edge RS, since the one doing the match is Ryou, while she presents herself as "Captain Alice" and declares their challenge against Central.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: The Cutting-Edge RS participated in the Survivors Hunt not because of Alice accepting Rentarou's challenge, but because Ryou took offense at his insults.
  • Hidden Depths: According to her, the only reason Alice agreed to keep the RS in the Survivor Hunt was because she liked the ring of the "Captain Alice" title, but otherwise she doesn't care. Later she lets slip that she is using this as an opportunity to do something against her uncle Azami.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Takumi's main role in Team C is to remind Soma that they are only in survey mission and they shouldn't make any scene. As soon as Rentarou starts to bully the losing clubs, both of them went to put him in his place.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Takumi gives his coolest speech by telling Rentarou off, pointing out that his overuse of the words "Elite" and "Chosen Ones" are only showing his self-esteem complex. It’s so accurate that not only Takumi gives it straight up without having the moment ruined by his usual awkward twist, Soma is impressed by how badass he turned.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Ooizumi and the other judges from the Autumn Election Finals return to make sure the Shokugekis are fair.
  • Sheltered Aristocrat: Erina first asks Hisako if she knew how to use a washing machine, and then changes the subject embarrassed after realizing that she is the only person in the room who has never used one before.
  • Smug Snake: Rentarou and Mea waste no time in mocking Eizan for his defeat against Soma, while also humiliating the defeated clubs.
  • Tender Tears: Played for Laughs. When the Polaris dormmates accuse Isshiki of abandoning them, Isshiki pulls a Large Ham crying while declaring that he would never abandon his kouhais.
